If there's a screening in Cannes I wager 90% ppl are gonna walk out within the first hour. von trier trying to be the new Pasolini or something

He got a bannes from cannes though, right?
Interestingly a nympho is only a concept within literature. It doesn't actually exist!.
I think the patriarch part is as big a part of it.
Horny dad is definitely a better title.
*edit
lol wtf am i talking about its not called nymphopatriarch - its just because he talked about what a farthers desire could be in one of the press thingies.. .

He's persona non grata (which is ridiculous) but his films can still be in the competition so I dunno.
I don't really know where the concept nymphomania came from. Probably XX century, frustrated cheated-on husbands... Then once psychology got a hold of it everybody thought it was a medical term. I should find a book or something about it.

Funny thing is that he is part jewish. So the whole thing could just be avoided but he's decided to 'take the abuse'.
His mother went to some sort of artsy commune and fucked a few intellectuals/ artists whatever to get some good genes for the course. His 'dad' told him about it when he was a late teen.

What got him banned was actually a very bad joke, he said at the end of the press conference he was in favour of the final solution for journalists because they were the ones who brought it up.
Apparently there's no more 'soft' version of Nymphomaniac coming out, only the hardcore one. It was also reduced to 4 hours. I can see this ending really well

Yeah, I'm saying, a partly jewish person joking about the final solution, is not the same as being antisemitic.
The thing about the film being that long in the production phase, is usually to make sure both the distributors, buyers and so on are so busy, that he can focus on choosing the best bits. Sort of a decoy principle. Tv shows usually do this when they know they are exposed to censorship. Trier has to do this to his own producers even though their own production company pays for some of the production. I hope its just a long film though.

Now You See Me
Felt like an update Oceans 11. Good cast, interesting premise, and the scenes between Morgan Freeman and Michael Cain are awesome. Didn't quite see the 'twist' coming, but the whole thing felt flat in the last 15mins. Shame, as the first hour or so was genuinely enjoyable.

2 Guns
Ridiculously over the top update of the buddy action/comedy. Big booming action sequences, lots of fighting, boobs, cringe worthy dialogue. If you go in expecting to be entertained without having to think at all, you might enjoy this.

I am shocked that you found this film even alright wub. This is honestly on my worst-ever list. Total bullshit. Crappy characters, cringeworthy "snappy" dialogue, the plot makes no sense at all, the action direction is like watching a fucking tom & jerry cartoon. The character motivations are fucking bizarre. The plot twists also make no sense and are literally like some internet joke version of a plot twist.
Also, all the magic stuff serves no purpose beyond looking cool at face level. The writers didn't think out any clever explanations for how they're able to do their shit, it's just "magic", but then also
not magic, because the characters keep insisting there's no such thing as magic. The only good thing about it was the redhead chick who I'd very much like to sit on my face.

Up until the end of the bit in New Orleans I was enjoying it. Then it tried to get too clever and disappeared up it's own arse. Agree re; the character machinations, but it was never meant to be serious at that stage, I don't think.

I´ve seen the first 20 minutes of it when I djed at the last-day-of-shooting-party of nymphomania in Cologne last year. I also had a little chat with Lars. He didnt seem as soziophob as media want him to be.
His assistent gave me a cd with a "dubstep tune" they produced with some vocal samples from the film. It had no subbass

I think its sort of a 'standard' mythologically in different parts of the world.
Historically a common form of female oppression though.

This was amazing, the story isn't the best or anything but in 3D at the IMAX it's absolutely stunning
