Need Help...Hurting my cat..but i love it!

I am finding that i have a problem with hurting my kitten..It started when I was a little boy..about 7 or so..Me & a friend would pick cats up by their legs and start swinging them around so we could watch them get dizzy....
As I matured years later, I was hoping that I would grow out of this phase.....about 5 years ago me and my girlfried at the time bought a kitten..I really think they are adorable which makes it more scary that i would do this to my pet..but i started mistreating my kitten...but then i would feel bad about it and want to hurt myself!....anyways to make the story short..I drop the kitten off at a park because i felt that i was going to kill it..so i made a vow never to have cat for a pet because i couldn,t resist from hurting it....this is really bizzare for me because i really love cats..I only feel this way with cats & kittens..
Recently my wife bought me this gorgeous half persian and half simense kitten..you look at this animal and your like....it's so beautiful!! Anyway my bad habits are coming back..when my girlfriend leaves the evil comes out of me..I'm really confuse about this..i tried to telling my wife about this and she doesnt want me to get rid of the cat..I have my good days and sometime bad days...
I'm afraid to go to a doctor because i dont wanna be in some nuthouse or on meds..I have suffer from anixiety and depression and manage to pull through without medication or a doctor...
Any advice would really help..

I put my girlfriend's cat on it's back on the polish wooden floor, spin it round a few times then let it go and watch it stagger off. I also use a laser pointer to make him stack it into the skirting board.

When my cat had kittens we invented a game called kitten roulette, basically you get a big umbrella, open it and put it upside down so that the pointy bit on the top is on the ground, place the kittens in the upturned umbrella, choose a kitten, begin spinning the umbrella until the kittens are thrown out of it by centrifugal force, whoevers kitten stays in the umbrella longest wins

I've been sending a tune or 2 to some DJs I respect, couple label owners, etc.
Write a nice respectable e-mail, come across friendly, etc.
Even going as far as building a repertoire with them and making the effort to listen to their sets, etc.
But I don't even get a friendly, sorry this is not our style or something.
Folks like the tunes so I know they're not shit.
Am I just being impatient?

My friend just went up and kicked a stray cat one time. If I had been there and seen it I would've laid him out. I hate when people are dicks to animals
