Probably unpopular but i'd play them Nomad. My Demons is to rock influenced to play to that theoretical person, imo.
:corntard:
by that logic you shouldn't play nomad either cause it's too techno influenced
Is it? I know nothing about techno..
I just feel Nomad encapsulates what 'Dubstep' means (I suppose just to me, thinking about it) better than My Demons does. I mean, guitar riffs and shit is, by and large, fairly unique to Distance.
fair enough

lifeform is pretty much a dub techno tune to me. i love nomad, but i wouldn't say it's the dubstep album

It's not so much the exact elements of it (cos of a lot of albums would fall foul of catering to one specific area too much), it's more just the mood around it. To me, dubstep was not necessarily overly dark, but tinted, moody, space-y, bass-y, head nodding riddims, and My Demons hits those spots most precisely imo. Clubroot comes close too.

Also, because of the dungeon backlash, I think bods have forgot how good Kryptic Minds - One Of Us is.

ultraspatial - I wouldn't necessarily say it's the dubstep album either, but if I played it to the interested party and they didn't like it i'd fuck them off instantly

garethom - I am not one of those people. One of Us is somewhere in my top twenty or top fifteen albums OAT

"Secure Lost" is an amazing tune. Proper sets me on edge listening to it. When I first heard One Of Us, in my head it was what the death of dubstep would sound like, proper frayed, rough, dark stuff. Didn't realise it would actually sound like brostep and house.

tbh i don't even consider one of us to be dungeon, bar a few tunes maybe, but it's on a different vibe overall

never expected them to get as boring as they are today. especially not after tunes like wondering why, torn, afterlife remix

if someone asked me to show them one album to teach them what dubstep was, probs Circadian by old jack sparra

also nomad is a good choice because it shows that its not all about 140 half time snares n shit, its just about the vibe of the sound

Surely a mix (file/CD?) would be the way to go recommendations wise? I couldn't honestly recommend a single album as a defining statement of the whole genre.

there was a lot of garbage pretty soon afterwards, still a lot of quality that got lost in the mix tho.

that new uprise audio cd is actually fairly sick, would be a decent one to show people what dubsteps all about. can be a bit dungeony tho...
