Updated The Fall last few days. Having a real hard time with the breakdown/buildup. Frustrating me to no end, but feel like I've actually gotten somewhere with it (finally).

I'm also not happy about the levels in the mid-range for various synths. To me the whole track sounds muddy and not really sure where to start to fix it :(

Anyways here's the link for those interested:

@amphibian: the hi pass filter in the breakdown works PERFECTLY for leading into the second drop. But the first drop is lacking i reckon. When you bring in the solid drums, I personally would have a few white noisy sweeps in there. You gotta have atmosphere and reverb before you drop it all in substitute for BASS :D
As for the track as a whole. I love it. Really really good. I love that bass sound. It's not too OTT but its harsh enough. As for it sounding muddy, try mastering it with either a lo-cut on an EQ, or simply boost the high mids a fraction, at like 3khz ish, but be careful not co crowd the mix. I love the track though. Deserves to be followed on soundcloud ;)

@charliefoy: I like the percussion through the track, i like the woooarw every 4 bars? imo it gets better 2:50 onwards, i like the delay on the fx. quite chilling track, i normally get bored when listening to minimal sorta shit but i didnt fall asleep with yours which is +1 from me ha :m:
@amphibian: I like this!, its like got a minimal feel with a bit of oomph with the dub-ish synth pulsing in the track. a good mix. props! from 2.15 imo i reckon the track gets 'better' but thats preference without a doubt :)

a remix i zoned out to last night. havn't mixed it really as sub is off because of the time.

@debaser - cheers man, appreciate the feedback! With white noisy sweeps, do you mean before the first drop?

@ironik - thanks mate, I agree - second drop kills it for me, my best so far. haha :) I actually mentioned that to my friends "ah great, now the first drop/part just sounds like a really long bridge" haha. As for your track, definitely needs sub. Hard to comment without something weighty beneath it all. haha :D

Yeah yeah before the first drop. It's good to fill up the mix wish swooshes and verbs before you 'drop' it all :)

I can tell this will probably be the last one in the thread but ah well

@ironik-sounds like the start of some trance song I remember somehow. Nice build up, but why is there a big gap before the drop?, you need something to fill the silence- some delay or perhaps a sample? The drop needs some sub under it as has been said. The bit at 57 seconds is actually sick thogh, maybe have it in a 64 bar loop as the piece progresses?

@amphibian-ominous start, like the percussion there, i think the synths being panned around even more would add to the suspense. Really likeing the Vex'd feel to the whole thing and the drop is actually sublime, actually really reminds me of this quite a bit http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CvZF4y5gabk - not many pushing this sound. The muddiness as you call it I think adds to a track, when tracks are just polished to perfection they lose something, the character maybe, I wouldnt't change a thing! :D

This is one of mine from a while ago, be nice!

Too kind hutyluty! I'm rather humbled it reminds you of that track - as that track is dope as! :D

I quite like what you've done mate. Lemovart has a nice IDM feel about it, though I think it needs some more variation every now and then, possibly even removing that lead bassline altogether at some points to create more space and let those stabs shine through a little more? Overall liking it, really nice feel.

@amphibian, I love your tunes man!

@Hutyluty, Bring up your drums, snare is really behind everything pretty much, nice aspect tho.

@TaikiOfficialUK, Nice man, finish it.

Really fast thing I came up with.

Will not be responding to this, for three reasons:

1) Did not read rules before posting on the production forum
2) Did not read the start of this thread which highlights what you need to do before posting
3) Did not adhere to #1 or #2

Have some respect for the forum, read the rules - then you'll get some feedback from people.

@Njamimars - thanks man, apprecaite it :) Really like that nice, short snare you got going, but maybe a little more verb on it would help? I like that man bassline you got going after the drop, but there's also one that is just way too distorted, and makes it sound like noise than an instrument. Remove the distortion from the low-end, and more dry than wet :) Other than that I think the track has promise. Also love the 8-bit sound that comes in around 1.30! Nice way to switch it up :)

@ Njamimars. Nice drums bro, Bass distorting like a mofo though!

@ hutyluty. Nice little intro, deep bass. Sounds good. Think the drums need work, pretty plain, get more variation instead of just a 2step kick snare kinda thing :D. Keep at it bro.

This is something i've started. I'm unsure if i'll keep going, or just wipe it lol. Mega mixed feelings about it lol.

@hutyluty - Im never nice haha! good sire your drums have been lost in the sea of bass! work on your mix-down please! That said I really like your little synth melody and the overall idea. Needs more variation and transitional work as it gets pretty stagnant with that same loop over and over and over. Yea make your drums more prominant than the bass and you'll have a great start at this one. be thinking of some variations to keep me interested!

@Njamimars - sounds like this could be clipping or something when that 1/2note bass hits. please for the love of god turn it down and take the distortion down a notch. Needs more variation in the bass definitely I think you should work on your transitions to make them more interesting

@Amphibian - You still working on this one heh! I would make the drums more dominant and turn down the reverb on the bass and also make sure your reverb is cutting the lows. I really love the intro personally I think it sets the vibe up. But yea I think that ridiculous reverb isn't helping it. Your snare doesnt really smack me enough either like its not loud enough or something.

@Bradicle - I think the bass is too much it is blasting a little too hard, but I loved the intro-drop and it is sounding siick. But yea I think you should keep working with this one has some great dark vibes for sure. I think some cool pads and shit. But yea turn that sub down and work on it some more!

@ironik - can't listen to your track :( otherwise I woulda given feedback

Here is my updated WIP has a drop right now... not sure if im gonna keep the vocal samples at the beginning or not. Anyway check it! also its not really all mixed quite right so yea... :m:

@ lordbird. Loving the intro drums man. That little rise is fkn cool! Nice drop, sounds like that bass needs a bit more mid or something, seems like its a bit dull. Good layout there, keep up with that keen to see where you go!!

Took your reply on board, and added a few more things.
