well i agree, "most important film of this decade" seems a bold statement. wouldn't generally agree with such overexagerations (its james franco) but concerning this year, no film gets close to spring breakers imho

Channeling my inner Wolf here, but Korine is a tnuc and makes shit films.
  • Kids is shitploitation that seems to held in high regard because it's "edgy".
  • Gummo is an exercise in borderline arthouse masturbation, utter drivel hiding behind a label of hyperrealism to escape the fact that it's just fucking dull.
  • Spring Breakers again falls under the shitploitation bracket, it's only saving grace is it's parody of Riff Raff by Franco. Sticking pretty girls in bikinis with a salubrious plot does not a film make, it was just Sucker Punch without the CGI.
The only good thing he's attempted was Fight Harm, and he wimped out of that when he actually started getting properly hurt.

... look ...oppinions, even when they differ from yours is still the only thing we need in a forum. So how about letting those oppinions live a little.
Like I fucking hate Kanye but he's still worth discussing for me. Same goes for someone like Noe or Korine, even when they don't necessarily hit the spot.

Just 'taking sides' is so teen.

All genres included, there's gotta be dozens in 2013 only.

Seems a bit futile as you've made your mind up and I'm not gonna bother to explain my thoughts but...I don't think you 'got' any of his films.

Spring Breakers is obnoxiously obvious what he was doing. He picked Justin Beiber's girlfriend to lead and Skrillex to do the soundtrack ffs...

I think that is the necessary price for performing the sutile parody wubstep, anyway.is a very very easy victim the one that they are hunting in my righteous opinion

I was responding to Wub by the way, I agree that it's a good film, even if just for the statement, rather than the plot/visuals etc.

definitely - the validity comes from reusing /sampling that culture and if that isn't entertaining or provoking then obviously it looses most of its punch.

fight harm never got released???

still don't quite get the idea of why a film must have a good plot lol

so yeah skrillex is a super obvious choice, i agree aswell - but would it make a difference if he had chosen some other producer that presents a similar aesthetic (like flux pavlion, kill the noise or any of ther oher brostep legends)? dont think so.
skrillboy is just the cherry on the cake

Confused as to who even agrees with each other now, whatever.

You might like this, Franco's character is largely made of these guys from what I gather, they get much more likable as you go through;

its not just the aesthetic of the sound but about the attention surrounding him.
he's got a haircut named after him and all lol

spring breakers was hands down the best movie this year
no doubt the most important. not only because it picked up an arthouse tradition that has been away from main stream america for years. but because it's right in the middle of all the censored plastic mtv porn notions that play too big a part in most of the entertainment industry and mocking it by using it. it's exactly the same thing as lil b, who a lot of people dont get either.

a film is as much about the script as a piece of music is about the tab.
what does arthouse mean? i dont really get movies lol

are blockbuster cinema films like the equicvilant of pop music to film fans?

and arthouse is like undergound 5 panel

Not really, there is nothing as a point in art, like saying the point of music is melody
