I think I said at the time that the Olympics appearance was completely unnecessary, the guy clearly had no idea where he was

hubb wrote:Agreed. But who was he a twat towards- maybe what he considered white media, which is probably not a stretch for someone growing up the way he did, right?.
He obviously puts on a show because that is what he learned.
He just had supreme arrogance. Hardly rare in a sportsman but he was the ultimate

It's just silly to think there was no purpose and a form of strategy to the way he conducted himself. Was so obviously a front towards common oppression in america at the time.

Seriously though, race-politics or not, is anyone stepping through the ropes knowing full well that they're going to get hit in the face by an absolute monster of a man WITHOUT having a stupidly inflated ego?

A great deal of heavyweight boxers seem a bit mental when interviewed; most seem to believe deep down that they're the best in the world on their day.. I'm not sure you'd get very far if you didn't have that attitude. Most of us do our best to avoid having punches thrown at us by the neighbourhood drunk, let alone a 260lb beast like George Foreman.

Ali been a twat though.

Somehow, I can see this quote getting wheeled out next time you post in the What Hip Hop Song thread. :P
Before I posted that I had a quick think and all the rappers I rate have either said something or rapped a line/verse/whole tune that shows their humility. I just can't stand cocky stnuc. Like, apparently Kanye's beats are amazing - I wouldn't know because I wont listen to the big headed prick.

Further more, I don't go in that thread any more because it's full of utter shite that the children post.

I'm only playing. Finding it hard to think of (m)any rappers that don't spit like they're the best to do it though...

On the Kanye point, I listened to 808's and heartbreaks today for the first time and It was pretty good. Seems I knew three or four of the songs as well.

Yeah rappers do that but, for me, if they admit their flaws (unlike Ali or Kanye) or acknowledge they're mortal etc. then hey, it's all in the game. Example - DMX Slippin'

I don't think I've ever liked an Eminem tune, even in the early days

808s and Heartbreaks really grew on me.

Tbh, although Kanye's got an absolutely ridiculous ego in public, I'd actually say he has more humility in some of his records than most rappers ever manage... it's like he's rap's biggest emo trapped in a narcissist's ego.

He is really fucked up though, like I guess anyone would be messed up if you could link your massive rise in fame and money to your mother dieing from something you paid for with said riches.
That and the paparazzi would be enough to push anyone over the edge :?

Yeah, he's a total fruit loop; there's no denying it. I can't deny he moves me though...

He has the personality disorder of a Psychopath, especially watching him in some of his recent rants about why he's not considered a genius in all rooms he stick his head into. But it's entertaining to watch a cunt sometimes.

He may well say something to that effect but it's obviously a lie. He thinks he's sick for real = no air time in my vicinity.
