I remember when i first put it on back in day, my housemates claimed it was the worst music they'd ever heard

In fact I think if it wasn't for degenerate it would have taken me a lot longer to get into dubstep than it did. It was an album that I bought and listened to one day and was like "fuck yeah I need more stuff like this"

I heard Degenerate around the time it came out and I thought it was grime cuz that was my only reference point at the time. Wasn't until 3 or 4 years later I properly got into dubstep and I read about it again and properly got into it.

Still think it's considered dubstep because it influenced dubstep and it was instrumental (plus the associations with all those breakstep dudes). Most of the album sounds and feels more like grime, except the production value is just way higher.

The production value in breakstep in general was higher than the other 140 genres for whatever reason. The drums in The Knowledge shit on most of the stuff at the time

Hes great on tunes but live... not so much. Mostly because he repeats the same 4 sets of bars in varying orders over everything with no regard to the tune. Atleast based off the 4 times Ive seen him anyway.

Im not saying hes awful but sometimes its nice to just have the tune you know. I have no idea if he does mcing at nights out but G-double on the Flex fm show is great, Toast as well and hell i dont even mind people like asbo who just scream "fuuckk" haha

The Rinse Kaiju show was one of the times hes been really great though.
