A couple of my mates have small businesses and they have CEO and Director on their cards. sounds so wank.

It may sound wank, but depending on what kind of business it is (from the legal standpoint) you have to name who is in what position.

nah, they're just trying to sound important when giving their cards to girls.

I am a business owner and the director of my company, but it doesn't mean I need to put director on my email signature even though im a sole trader. just seems silly.
