if space is a worry then recording straight off into a new audio track is best idea, freezing and flattening makes 2 wav files out of what you're bouncing.

That's the best tutorial for learning Live imo. Unfortunately you have to pay to get the last 8 hours of the tutorial (10 hour tutorials ftw), but it's worth it.
Hope that helps :)

symmetricalsounds wrote:yeah either freeze and flatten a track or create new audio track and set the input to "resampling", solo the track with the midi and fx and record it off into the new audio track.

Just curious, is there any difference between that method and just routing what you want to bounce to an audio track and recording?

I've seen that resample input just never used it haha

not necessarily but depending how you set the audio track input you might not get the sound going through your return channels (if you're using any). i just use resampling cos i find it quicker if i'm just recording off one thing, but if i'm bouncing down the individual channels of my drum rack then i'll setup a few audio tracks and set the inputs right and record them all off together.

with ableton there are usually a few ways to do everything and it will totally depend on the situation as to which option i'll use.

ez guys, very simple question here (i assume) cuz im brand new to production, but when i record for instance a bass line why does it 'pulsate' and get louder and quieter? why doesnt it stay the same all the way through like i want it too, and is there a way of doing this?

probably need to look at the ADSR envelope on the synth creating the sound, for an explanation look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Synthesizer#ADSR_envelope

put your attack to minimum, max out the decay and sustain and release on minimum and should be how you want it. understanding how the ADSR envelope works is vital to synthesis.

Really fucking annoying problem my audio channel area bit keeps blanking out and it does it with the bit where you drop effects and instruments into aswell. Anyone got any idea how to fix this?

Oh, just opened the picture in a new window and saw what you mean! Creepy! No idea why this happens!

Does it happen with the default theme as well?
