I actually quite enjoyed Kick Ass.

It was good for a laugh, pretty stupid and over the top as it should be. Second one is supposed to be utter shite though, not seen that yet.

Leaving Las Vegas and Bringing Out The Dead if you want him to do proper acting.

Yes. Not a patch on the original but still entertaining, IMO.

Really? I thought it was dreadful but I'm not a fan of Cage. Loved Adaptation though.

Con Air is probably the best Cage film but that's because of all the other good actors in it.

It was meant to be verging on self parody and he hams it up nicely, particularly the bits with the iguanas and break dancing soul. At least you get the impression he was trying to be like that, whereas with something like Snake Eyes he's trying to be serious and just comes across as chewing the scenery.

Yeah, when he does pseudo drama/comedy roles like that he can nail it. Weatherman is another good example.

He's better at playing Travolta as himself than Travolta is at trying to portray him, if you follow me? Con Air and The Rock are also solid in terms of the cheesy action film stuff he's done.

Drive Angry is fucking ridiculous as well, borderline grindhouse. Also has the excellent William Fincher, who is a fucking don :Q:

There are no good actors only good direction. Bad lieutenant 2 is a great example of that. The over the top guys are usually the ones that can act genuinely brilliant or completely ham it, like Gary Oldman, John C Reilly or Johnny Depp. But you can't depend on them being good generally imo.

There are so many comedians comming through in film/tv in serious roles right now, which sort of argues the same point.
