because at medium to higher volumes, the low end is overwhelmingly loud. i know, we all like bass, but there is such a thing as just too much of it (relative to the other frequencies)

i agree fully with what you said phigure, on calle f i have to have the bass on my mixer more or less off. If i even put a tiny bit more bass it just is way way too loud and distorted. Now maybe you may say it's my spreakers. But it really is way too loud. Kinda ruined a great album a touch, i mean i feel sorry for all the fuckers that wanted to listen in thier cars, must be a distorted nightmare. Wicked album tho even if you have to have the bass more or less off. Not the end of the world but like i love ghost but once again try putting the bass a quarter up and it just sounds horrid. Before i get a lashing please note this is just my opinion. But yeh love the album just wish mala eased off on the over the top bass.

anyways it isnt nearly as much of an issue for me as it sounds like it is for you. nowhere near "ruined a great album" imo

na i said ruined it a touch, don't get me wrong it's still great but i'm just gonna play it with less bass coz as you know the bass is way too high.
i was even wondering that if it was a mastering mistake then maybe the gatefold edition might have been sorted out? Would sound so much better with half the bass.

are you guys chatting about the release on wax or digi?

AH WELL, it will just have to go in the same folder as Metal mouth & pretty much every cyrus tune

It's not that bad! Seriously, the only tunes that even border on being too bassy are Curfew, Tribal and possibly Changuito. Even then it just means it still sounds really nice at lower volumes.

That Pitchfork review kind of ruins it's own point in my opinion. Of course some of the tunes are more "Mala" and some more "Cuba". Can you imagine how boring it would have been if he'd gone straight down the middle for every tune? That's what makes it a great record, takes you on a journey.

Personally I wouldn't change a note, I love every tune.

Played it to some people with different tastes in music (like rock music and shit...) who know nothing of dubstep or whatever and they loved it.

whenever I turn on some dubstep or whatever in the car it's always a constant battle on the volume knob bc she's complaining that the bass gives her a headache


she likes burial though! says it feels like she's watching some old artsy film or something

It especially sounds good with some John Trudell mixed in...

i duno i just can't help thinking the mastering fucked up or something, coz the peps saying it aint too bassy must have worse tinnitus then me. The low end is way too high for me. first album i bought 2 of but am gonna probly put my spare boxset on discogs. Don't get me wrong i'm not super angry or anythin just my god that over the top bass is something else. i hate having to play a tune with either too little bass or enough bass but suffer that shit sound

Why did you need 2 in the first place? Why do so many people buy 2? I have spun some records over 100 times and can't tell any difference in sound quality. Its people like you that means that 1000 copies don't reach 1000 people. I understand you have done it because you love Mala like the rest of us, but there really is so little logic in owning two copies. What exactly did you have in mind for that second copy?

yeah the added enjoyment you get from a second copy isn't far less than the enjoyment of someone else being able to get a single copy for themselves
