Might be in for next week, recorded some fucked sounds with feedback and filter FM. Very "you're all about to get murked by a giant alien tripod so you'd better run like hell"

Kind of want to record a bunch of sounds and then collage them together so I'm more focused on texture and atmosphere.

ps if you need to pad your sample library with some sweet noises, download the Diva demo, sweet christ. Just map a bunch of knobs, put it on the highest quality setting you can handle, and just render out notes while spinning controls. You'll end up with a goldmine full of whoadude.jpg

@demain: nice one man, really feeling the guitar. can't really fault it tbh, maybe the beat can be stripped of some elements at times. also, minor issue and might well be an intended glitch but during the breakdown a sort of crackly distortion can be heard, not sure if its on the strings or some other element (it's at 1:50/1:56/2:02/2:04, maybe try to see if you EQ it out ?

@jizzman: genaesthetic> actually not quite sure what you changed, still thinking the song could do with a completely hornless section, or is it too empty if you remove the horn sample entirely? also might not be the direction you want to take with the track but hi hats on the offbeat at some point would work for me, other than that sticking with my previous comment, nice chillout jazzy piece

lullaby> nice and sweet. i think it could use a bit more hihats/percs, maybe some background atmosphere, like vinyl crackles that'd blend with the hihats and sort of shaker you already have? also is it me or is the vocal sample lined up kind of weird with the other elements, don't know, it seems to drift a bit off at times? actually i think you could mess with the vocal sample a bit more, maybe reversing it or drowning it an super wet reverb at times to give some variation

@nowaysj: sick use of the reversed samples, really feeling this, actually, can't see anything i would change tbh, maybe give it a less abrupt ending tho

@Bud: maximum translucent> there should be more things going on in the intro i think. also come on, this 4x4 kick begs for a hi-hat on the offbeat imo, at least during the more meaty parts. also had a quick listen to the original to hear where you're coming from, i think you could use some of the more melodic elements of the original, as incidental counterparts to the techno-ish stab you have

mer>man this one's really good, could use more percussive elements tho, i see handclaps fitting the bill quite well here, something like joe's first releases on hessle would complement what you already have. also the breakdown (1:47-2:26) might be a bit too empty, that plucky synth doesn't stand that well on his own i find.

tuna sample> ah i see you went for the minimal harsh distorted and noisey route, cool sound design, feeling this, not sure what the element around 0:43 is, sounds like a pitched down distorted guitar, would like to hear that more

@m8son: feeling these creepy synths.minor thing: at the end of the vocal sample, a slight "tss", like the attack of the original unreversed sample, can be heard, i would try to remove it, then again i guess it depends how you feel about it, it's not too noticeable. other than that not much criticism to give, nice one

@johney: wow, that horn-like synth :U: not sure about the hihats though, i'd suggest trying alternating open/closed hihats, maybe throw cymbals in there, also could be just my headphones but the snares sound like they could be a bit clearer in the mix at times, especially when there lots of other elements going on

@delicquenzy: i feel the bongo like drums in the intro should be a bit louder, maybe with a subtle reverb, same for the percussions coming in around 1:30, i feel they should be more audible and maybe clearer, also, maybe i'd add another sub/reece as a counterpart to the main one, maybe just to emphasize the end of each phrase, not sure i'm being clear tho... aside from that, nice production, maybe a bit too dungeon-y for my taste :)

ok here we go :corntard:

@psych
i feel the main drums are bit too one dimensional atm but thats a minor thing cause you got your rythm layered so maybe try layering or dif drums? hm just the bassdrum and the clap i think
bongos are nice atomospheric pads flow nice too just those main drums i personally cant befriend

@dfault
flipper nice sample crackles hm i do feel it but i miss sth at the same time personal opinion obviously the sounds work nicely together though so its fine and i cant really point my finger on what i miss either maybe some longer vocal parts not just chopped? or a melody on top i say that often lol but as a listener i do love my solo melodies

beelzebub
really nice moody intro again. yeah dig the sub really prominent maybe the clap thingy a tad more in your face? drums are nice though good stereo field dig those delays ♥ shadows sample i would have loved to hear earlier. like this constant noisefloor. very dubsteppy overall nice roller maybe if you want try some dungeon elements just to see like basic reece or sth over the sub at some parts but not the growly dungeon more like dnb rolling dungeon hm eskmo had one basically slow dnb reece
but the sub is :Q: warm

ah the remix i dont really comment would be wrong but yeah one thing the only thing is this one top crackly bassy stab i dont feel it atm the rest is like a dark version of our remix of stereo love lol i dig it :corndance: just this stabby constant basssound not sure :?

@johney
nice melody in the intro. has an "oldschool" vibe. def more on the experimental side which i support :Q:
hard to say what to change its a idea tune so its your ideas saying do this or that would destroy that
maybe mixing wise i could say a tad more low end in those basses the sub seems fairly deep

@mason
dig the vocal chops. hm i think i hear some sharp tops in this low melody like maybe a tiny bit of eq there to smooth it out. dig the drums punchy and direct. sub is nice is it like connected to one of your older tunes you posted feels very close. dig the melodies and this bassline that is over the sub?
yeah maybe check this main melody for some sharp parts just really minor eqing

@nowaysj
haha oha wierd one :corntard: haha so many layers like it feels like its out of a black and white russian art movie or sth where they film a cow for 40 minutes and talk about the winter
haha and then it goes into mexico? haha yeah :z: all samples? yeah wouldnt change it its what it is

@jizzman
iullaby smooth. not sure about the present hi hat i like those shakers in the back maybe thats enough? or put the hi hat further back too. feel this vocal sample bassline is nice yeah i dont feel the hi hat :corncry: rest is nice

gen

you changed it? cant remember all the details still sounds nice haha maybe find a acapella for the fun of it like kool keith or sth or yeah a deep soul vocal or motown could add sth not needed but maybe it works

@demaine
really mellow nice one sigur rosesc beat and melody yeah def find a girl and let hear sing over it like or like air some really smooth vocals make a instrumental one and a singer one would love to hear that but i think itmight need real vocals you know some with real message :Q:

thx for the fdbk defaultuzr i know that i tend to take away more and more of the elements haha i dunno if its being lazy or trying to get the job done with four audio channels lol but i agree those are really spare

thanks for your fdbk too even if its just :W:

It is that time, we were supposed to talk about this in March. I guess we're a coupla weeks late. I'm up for it. If any of my tracks are to be in there, I'm gonna need some lead time, as everything I've done for TUNA! is wip as hell and I'd like to rework a fair bit.

What does everyone say? TUNA! compilation? How many tracks? Like an LP length? An hour of material?

We could have everyone that wants to participate, put all their tracks together in one post, and then all compilation participants choose from that like the best track or tracks?

Or we all could just choose one of our own tracks that we like...? I don't know.

So how would the compilation be released?

yeah obviously a tuna tune would support the idea of the compilation but a tune by a tuna should be fine too

i dunno man how i promoted my albums so far was like mediafire link and post on facebook lol i am not a promoter haha :?

hm my idea of it is more like get others interested maybe dif genres even if this a dubstepforum ( its not like we post just dubstep in here anyways)
on the other hand we are a good bunch now but yeah just to show our progress too

Psch: I must admit i've not heard the original, but this is pretty cool, i like the bongo line and rhythm of the kicks and the bass are nice, sets a real nice groove. That snap is a little loud though as noways was saying. i really like that panned element you have coming in every now and then, what is it?. just feels a little bit empty at the moment

Dfaultuzer: beezlebub - yeah this is sick the percs are really nice, i like how you much suspense there is waiting for that snare. the intro and the break are a bit... nothing... but the drop is nice, sick enough to make it worth the build. love that reese, really nice and warm. might be abit more epic if you could squeeze some sort of end of l6 bassline variation into it
sorrow - liking the garagey drums, hats sound a bit dry though. have to agree with psych about the synth being sharp, it contrasts well with the rest of the tune but a little too much.
flipper - yeah man, this is like your signature style. i envy you such a recognisable sound. drums sound a little too cut up, like theyre sitting on top of the tune as opposed to in it. Like psych said maybe laying another break over the top might bring the drums together. i like the horns though and the vocals although the vocals might be a touch too loud .

Mason: yeah this is cool, reminds me of level9 a little. i like those synths in the intro and the little melodic progressions throughout the track. sounds a bit like the sub is conflicting with itself at times though, like there is too much release and the tail clashes when the notes are different. Really nice overall, doesnt feel too repetitive. percussion is on point too

Bud: mer - i'm not much of a fan of the first half, i think its well made and i can see how it would go off in a dance setting but yeah not a fan - just personal taste i think but i love that break and the second half. if it was me i think i'd make the break the intro and just not bother with the first bit but thats just me i think
qu-a-q - nice solid tune man, lovely textures. not much i can put my finger on but it all gels together really nice, maybe that change up could come a little earlier though

noways: Love this man. I like how it deconstructs towards the end. has a bit of a jewish/russian feel to it which is cool. The title is very apt, its almost like hearing someones sanity dissolve. i can see someone using this in a soundtrack. maybe a bit of sample being sidechained by the kick might be nice but i don't know if it would ruin the off the wall nature of it. really cool anyway

Relka - general anaesthetic - sweet tune man, love that piano and horn. my kinda beat. The drums are nice and loose, but not too much. feel like one or two of those hats are a little harsh maybe could do with tuning down a little, but i'm just nitpicking.
lullaby - I like that vocal sample, like everyone else has said the drums seem a bit incongruous, like just a little bit too loud and sharp. Personally I reckon a bassline more like the one you did for general anaesthetic would sound better with this sample but thats just me i think. that pad is nice too

I'll actually have one for this week. The first actual project I've done in like a week. I spend too much time away from my computer I think. Maybe that's why I'm not really getting any better.

Sooooooooo my computer fried the other day and I hadn't exported my sample flip yet...... But I do have a couple tunes I made for the TUNA! that I backed up on a flash drive so I'm gonna try to get to my buddies house and use his computer to upload them today even though it's a day late..... but it looks like noways hasn't even uploaded the tracks anyway.
