Do you think the desire to procreate is a conscious, logical one then?

Why do you think animals procreate? how did the species get to where it is today without a subconscious 'will' to continue the species? Did at some point in our evolution the idea to have children become a conscious one?

I mean both on a figurative and on a physical level it's the ultimate manifestation.
Which means you could have opposite reasons for wanting it.
Do you think the desire to procreate is a conscious, logical one then?
Yes sometimes it is that.

Shouldn't have written much more complex as it could be misunderstood for condescension. I meant it as - it doesn't invite in all the possible reasons for doing it. The manifestation as an action can weigh over the behavioural conditioning we have 'programmed' as an animal. I.e. 'crazy chicks might do it just to have something that looks like themselves to play with. But it's actual pee that comes out when you press them'. :6:

It's true we are animals. But also - we thought up that term and happily live with the distinction when it suits us in discussions. So in this case, at least conversely we are mostly human.
Did at some point in our evolution the idea to have children become a conscious one?
It can be both. It can even happen by accident. Like toilet babies which we should deem the new immaculate conception imo

i'm sure this article has been posted somewhere on dsf before but i haven't seen any discussion of it in the hideout. i'm posting it in this thread because it's bound to generate some unpopular opinions, some of which will of course be mine lol, even though i'm trying to be as unopinionated as possible. i'm more interested to see what the ninjas think. here's the article ----> http://www.mixmag.net/music/the-blog/am ... al-dubstep

So what's our opinion on this? I think it makes a lot of good points. But I disagree with the premise that dubstep needs to be 'kept alive.' I went and saw dmz with joe nice the other day and it was fucking PACKED. There were so many obvious heads there (they clearly knew all the tunes). It's was really an incredible night. Biggup the Bodymore<--->DC crew. Anyone else happen to be there?

Lots of people in the US are definitely starting to change their tastes in favor of the deep stuff. I think this is awesome because it will create a HUGE market for artists to come here and put on shows, and the scene could always use a boost even though it's going pretty strong right now. However, I think they have to be VERY careful to not let it go perverse again.

That said, the US still has a ways to go. Dmz & Joe played lots of tearout (which i wasn't thrilled with but whatevs) because that's what the crowd reacted most strongly to (although people still loved the deep classics). I saw one kid headbanging, and another few kids were trying to start a moshpit lol...smh.

But whatever, I think they will learn with some time. I wasn't a perfect fan at my first dubstep night and I'm still not. Pretty sure someone on here (Johoosh?) remembers me requesting a tune at System last summer (CRINGE), and while they apparently agreed with me cos they played it, I didn't realize at the time it was against good dj/fan etiquette.

SNH, your move.

Btw Mala is a fucking phenomenal DJ holy shit I never knew that. It was my second time seeing Mala, saw him once before at a Swamp night last summer and he was great, but he fucking killed it the other night. It was more personal. He interacted with the crowd more. You couldn't really see the DJs very well due to the lighting at the Swamp night. I always thought he was a little more reserved, but he was skanking out the whole night, passing his liquor into the crowd, talking on the mic, etc.
