Re: Gear lust
THAT I DON'T HAVE.

Re: Gear lust
You beat me before my edit.
Did you get the keyboard or module? It will be nice addition to your studio if you can swing the finances.

Re: Gear lust

You only have one life to live, right?
It isn't my IDEAL analog poly. But it is the best this poor boy can do.
I don't know what is going to happen with analog prices. I think they have to come down. There is more supply for the market. Korg has been leading the way amongst the giants, and I think even Roland is reluctantly following. Sequential is going to start putting out more VCO, I'd bet.
But I think there is going to be a little dip in the market right now as people sell off p08's for the p6.
I hope I got a good deal. I was seeing $1600 for the p08pe kb.
This is a p08 that was sent back to DSI to have the encoders switched out for the potentiometers...
We'll see.
This is EXTREMELY important to me. I hope it works out.

You made and offer, I accepted. We have a contract that is enforceable.
I'll give you my paypal address, what's your shipping address, mate?
I'm even going to wash the socks for you, before I send them.

Re: Gear lust
Ive been waiting and waiting hoping all the nea analogs coming out would make the p08 module prices dip safely below 1k...I should just sell my OTO biscuit and other modules and go for it...nowaysj wrote:You only have one life to live, right?

Re: Gear lust
Was looking at that, amazing.
All about details though with a seq.
I'm definitely gonna be looking at that.
===========
Frag, even before the p6 announcement, I'd heard about some module sales around $800.
That is a flaming good deal for what you get.
What do you think about 14 hundo for the kb, and the pe?

Yep. I've seen 'em go that cheap. I'm waiting for the glory days when they all go around 800 and I don't have to try so desperately to hang on to that much dosh!
I think with the upgrade to the potentiometers its a deal. Other wise I'd say a deal would be 1200.
Honestly I'm just stoked for you that you had the balls to pull the trigger man : ) Ever since I saved up to buy a Monomachine then bailed on it too early, spent the profit no a vacation, then regretted it I've been afraid to spend that on gear...
I can "afford" a ~1K synth...it'd be a skinny month or two...but...
Anywho...fuck GAS man...I concentrating on making noise! The synths will be there for the taking : ) So much cool shit coming out.

Re: Gear lust
Thanks dood. I'm so incredibly stoked too. It has taken a long time for me to find what I'm really interested in. I cannot wait to get started in this new studio, with this instrument.
I'm pretty much gassed out. Just a mixer, a kp3+, a nice reverb unit, and a live voice processor to go. Hahahaha.... But really. Well maybe some outboard sequencing...
I'm helpless.

It has no real song mode only a "next sequence mode", but the M Audio Trigger Finger Pro is a pretty bad ass stand alone hardware sequencer. Super programmable. 4x4 MPC style pads plus X0X.
You can get them stupid cheap now...like 200 bucks new...sweetwater is blowing them out. I recently paid 400 for mine : (
You can program 4 banks of 4x4 ...each pad can be assigned a MIDI channel and note and sequenced on the X0X sequencer. Nice, large display for when you need it. Song mode is the only thing it is missing.
Also includes a Maschine-like software...I've not even touched that though.
Swing and I think individual pattern lengths.
Honestly though dude...if you are going to spend money on a sequencer...just get an iPad. Genome is tits (and can do CC automation!), Cubasis...other sequencers...
But a lot of new sequencers coming out...

Re: Gear lust
Yeah, I've got to get the ipad into the studio. Really I need some way of audio/midifing it. Put that on the list of shit that I need
Re: Gear lust
I was just looking the Trigger Finger Pro today. It looks pretty cool. You have one Fragments? How are the pads?
Re: Gear lust
Yep. Got one because it was the only dedicated hardware sequencer I could find at the price point. Honestly, I never know how to answer when people ask me "how are the pads" on anything. I've had an Akai LPD8, Maschine MK1 and the TFP...all the pads seemed very usable to me if that is any help. I can say this...I feel like they are thinner than the Maschine MK1 pads...it doesn't affect performance IMO, just something I noticed.mks wrote:I was just looking the Trigger Finger Pro today. Honestly...my only gripe with the TFP is lack of song mode. The "next sequence mode" isn't really a replacement for this in any way. However at the new price point http://www.sweetwater.com/store/detail/TriggerFinPro it is WELL worth the dosh.
You also get 4 x 4 knobs and sliders that you can assign to MIDI CC. Solid signal through both a MIDI Solutions QuadraThru and MOTU MIDI Express.
It also has a fantastic LED pad coloring system...a lot of colors (over a dozen I want to say). You can assign individual on/off colors for each pad.
It could have been a contender, a serious heavy weight, if M-Audio could've been arsed to add a song mode : ( But now it seems they are going to abandon it at firmware version 1.0...considering everyone is blowing them out...
I know where they went wrong though...all the marketing was intended to make it a contender for Maschine, but it failed miserably at that marketing wise. There is virtually no info out there on what a great hardware sequencer it is.
16 channels times 4 banks of 4x4 pads, 4 knobs, 4 sliders AND X0X sequencer! The menu diving isn't terrible. The only thing I don't like is that there isn't a good way to noodling around for melody and harmony...I'm not sure what the possibilities are with adding a MIDI keyboard...
I'm thinking that the TFP into my Griffin iPad doc plus Genome iOS...probably going to invest in USB to MIDI converter box so I can get my MIDI keys involved. Keyboard > TFP > iPad > MOTU MIDI Express > Gear

Re: Gear lust
Jeez. I've been dragging my heals just to avoid this part of the scenario.fragments wrote:Keyboard > TFP > iPad > MOTU MIDI Express > Gear
I'm being very hopeful that I can squeeze just a little more life out of the Unitor 8.
Re: Gear lust
Okay gear lusters... I need a huddle on this one.
Just got an email from the seller of the prophet 08.
Check this shit...
Homie says,
1. The keyboard wasn't his, it is his keyboardist's who doesn't have an ebay account, so he sold it for him.
2. The keyboardist sent the keyboard back to DSI to have the original encoders switched out for... not potentiometers as he originally claimed in the auction, but new endented encoders...
3. Will cancel the auction if I so desire.
Do I desire?
Here is the thing. I honestly DIDN'T mean to bid that high, there literally was a glitch with ebay, in the last 15 seconds, I clicked the bid increment button and nothing happened, the screen kind of flashed, but the bid didn't go through. I clicked the bid button again, then the screen flashed the first incremented bid that I tried to do, then it incremented it again, and this was with, like, 5 seconds left. Then the auction closed. I was like what the fuck just happened? Then the screen flashed "you won this auction!" and confetti dropped down around me, balloons went up, neoclassical cherubs came out of nowhere each blowing a brassy dsi osc into my ear and tickling my bum.
I was like... "Okay..." I guess I won it.
But I was like, shit, I don't really have the money for this...
But I was like 08-15... a long time to wait... might as well go for it. Then Rockonin agreed to buy my socks for $1,400 (I want my money, bitch) and all was good.
Now... Let's say you were selling your 08 and it went for 300 less than you wanted it to go for. How would you get out of it? You'd have to get the buyer to want to get out of it. A buyer who ostensibly just got a pretty good deal on the board.
Smokin what I'm packin?
Maybe homie is playing a fast one, trying to get me to believe that it isn't the pe version...
Think if I contact DSI with the serial they can tell me what retrofit they did?
Your thoughts?!

It sounds a little sketchy.
Also, you have the chance to get out of it if you can't afford it right now.
