No. Just no.

The thong song is a top 10 jam of 2000, possibly the whole decade. Unleash the dragon is good tho.

ive got the unleash the dragon vinyl with the tuff jam remix on the other side. was very surprised to find it plundering my dad's (62) record collection. I found this as well

i don't get the hype about vivek's label
vivek's tunes are meh and the new one from gantz & las was a bit underwhelming. firepusher is totally ruined by the drums

slightly agree with you, bought the vivek ep but really i'd rather own the original soundman and i wasn't that excited by the firepusher ep either

fucking loved the karma one though

I don't even like Malfunktions that much tbh.

At least I'm in the right thread. Been holdin' my tongue on that one for quite some time.....

I mean I like the idea of it, I feel like it's trying to be innovative which is a good thing. It's just not that enjoyable imo. It certainly stands out, kinda sounds like some Coki-esque tearout but without the 'power' of tearout due to having softer drums. But just cause a tune stands out doesn't make it good for me. I think Commodo's Free Focus remix does a much better job at being that kind of a tune.

Let the flaming commence. :h:

i really do like gantz and las but i'm still waiting for them to make the tune that i fucking love

spry sinister was close but i preferred the sound of it live/in mixes to when i got the record, your eyes by las is probably the closest one to that or maybe free focus but only really the commodo remix

kind of, but different enough. thats kinda commodo's signature sound i feel. nothing wrong with that. you could name plenty of producers with tracks that sound just as similar. coki for one.

Yeah they're both really solid tunes so I'm really not hatin', just an observation.

yeah that's a fair point lemon, but personally i like them enough and they sound so distinctive anyway i'm alright with them
but yeah if on the spot asked to whistle one of them i would 50% of the time whistle the wrong one

I think a big part of it is to do with hearing those tunes in the context of the night at System, personally I've really liked every release so far and all of the tunes do the damage on Vivek's rig, also whenever people are talking about the Firepusher EP nobody ever mentions Gantz - Second Nature which is fucking wicked

I'd agree with that. Wasn't overly familiar with Gantz' stuff prior to SYSTEM, tunes sounded good. But when I listened to his releases in Redeye, the effect just wasn't the same.

Ofc the context of the first few times you hear these tunes will be important.

I don't rate the new Coki - Demonator/Indian Girl plate at all, but that's just from listening to a redeye clip on my headphones for about 2 mins. But if either got dropped on a decent sound in a packed rave it'd demolish the floor 100%. If i'd had my first experience of hearing those tunes at the night before i heard the redeye clips, i'd probably be more inclined to buy it.

Same thing i think goes for Rinse/mixcut rips, you're going to feel more energy off the tune if on the clip its got bare acetate crackle, warmth from a studio/radio compressor + Joe Nice/Youngsta/insert MC going hype in the background.

You see people complaining a fair bit about how different released versions of tunes sound from the cuts/clips that have been doing the rounds beforehand. Tbh the Rinse compressor (especially the old one before they upped the bitrate a year or so ago) did make things sound MUCH warmer and beefier.

i've heard all those tunes at system and on the ridiculous system they had at the leeds contact, they're undeniably weighty they just lack a certain melody/rhythm for me to get into

i'm definitely not trying to say they're bad
