yea but the system @ system would've been eq'd to suit mala/viveks sound...

Mixing these tunes into others through my studio monitors in my room, they do sound a little out of place frequency-wise, but they definitely didn't when mala played them on friday when I saw him. Dunno if that's cos of the system compensating for everything, or if he was EQing them differently to the other tunes in his set though. Obviously Mala's far superior DJ skills help though haha

Mala admittedly makes music for sound systems, so if it sounds "funny" (insert other adj) at home, that would make sense. Ever put on the 3d glasses 2 days after you saw a film and thought, "These only work on the big screen."? Yea, its kinda like that.

and theyre probably playing a different version of the mix than the released one.

this is probly a stupid question but does any1 think that the gatefold version will have been re mastered and sound better then the boxset?
coz others have said that when mala played these tunes out they sounded better as they was probly different to the boxset version.
I have a guy lined up to buy my spare boxset and a mate might even buy my open boxset. Bass is just way too distorted for me.

no1 is complaining, i just asked a question. probly a silly 1 but u never know, the mastering might have fucked up a bit. coz the bass is too much on some tunes. So i just thought if so maybe it's been sorted.

I feel like a mastering engineer and mala would be able to judge whether or not the mixdown or the master were fucked up far more than a couple customers listening on their home studios monitors or hi fi systems

I have no care either way, but when it comes to selling it, wouldn't it ONLY matter what the customer wants?

It certainly has a lot bass and sounds terrible on headphones and smaller speakers but on monitors it sounds amazing imo

yeah, it's the same on itunes, have to adjust my car's eq's to make it sound just right. once I do tho, it sounds amazing! got a pretty good system but hey

That's funny, I thought it was just me all along! I've thought the same thing when listening to some of Mala's tunes. Also, it's not just on 'Mala in Cuba' that I hear a slightly over-powering bass. The most noticeable case of this, for my ears, is on 'Sinners'.
I'm not saying anything about Mala, or his mixing abilities, or the engineers mastering abilities, all I'm saying is that I too have noticed that the bass is slightly louder in the mix then when compared with most other artist's releases.
