Ableton Live's warping IS the most efficient way.
Watch a couple of tutorials on YouTube and you'll get the hang of it.

slicing it and sticking the slices into a drum rack will give you more control over timing.

Hi
Sorry to bother you with the same problem again but its seriously getting on my tits
Ok yesterday Ableton kept skipping notes in a MIDI clip so today i decided to just use audio clips for my drums
but thats also skipping at random
Iv got 3 Audio channels
1 Hat
1 Kick
1 Snare
The kick and the hat play just how i want
but the snare is very temperamental and does weird shit
Example
I'm just looping a kick snare pattern over and over and it...
1.It sometimes doesn't play.
2.It sometimes plays a tiny amount at the start.
3.It sometimes skips the attack and all i can hear is the reverb decaying
Im using Ableton 7 Suite (Legit)
Any ideas please ?
Thanks

Thanks Il check it out now
my PC is quad core with 2g RAM its usually OK...
UPDATE
Ableton's CPU meter was floating around at 8% and it was still F

king up

I've got the ua-25ex and have no issues with cpu. I'm on mbp with core audio driver but I've used the same setup with asio drivers on my old Toshiba shitbox and ableton ran smooth then. do u have the latest update of ableton? could be a bug. Or reinstall maybe in order?

any general tips when arranging drum beats in the playlist window with the grid off? any useful keyboard shortcuts one should know of etc. to make the task more smooth? i was experimenting with it earlier and found working without the grid to be fun but moving clips around did not feel very smooth and it was often hard to move them by small amounts

you can't seem to move audio clips on the arrange page with the keyboard, that's why i do all my drums in midi. you can nudge midi notes back n forth by holding ALT and left/right arrow keys. to move audio clips by small amounts seems best to just zoom in and be exact with the mouse, a trackball makes those small precise movements much easier.

Hello
just a simple question, how would i route 4 channels to one channel so that i can put effects that will effect all of those 4 channels?
if it matters at all, the 4 channels i'm trying to route are within a group.
thx

Are you running vista or 7? Vista would be sucking up like half your ram. Even with 7 I would think about getting another gig of ram for doing audio processing. Windows 7 idle with a browser open can start to get up around a gig of ram, leaving you only 1 for audio.
And if you have 64 bit windows then getting 2 gigs couldn't hurt

You actually don't have to group them. Create an audio track, first. Then switch to the Session view. See the MIDI in and MIDI to sections of the tracks? Go to "MIDI to" and click the audio track in the dropdown menu. Do that for all four. Now you can drop effects on that audio track and it will affect all four.
[Of course, this is completely void if I misunderstood "channels"...I just call them tracks?]

If they're within a group just put the effects chain on the group. If they're part of a larger group that you don't want to effect all together, then you can send them to a return and under 'Audio to' select 'Sends Only' so that no audio goes directly from the channels to the master.

Hey guys.
Here's the deal, when I try and change the velocity of my notes it doesn't seem to work. I change the velocity, and during playback everything plays at the same velocity nothing's changed.
Any ideas?

screenshot of the sampler/synth settings?
first thought though is that velocity isn't turned on, for example in simpler it's in the bottom right hand corner
in this picture the velocity is set to 50%, the higher that value the more sensitive it is to velocity changes under the midi notes.
