It's just a difference in a core sensibility, it's not about using midrange sounds, or dancefloor friendliness or any of that.

The only people who genuinely tred the line are 16Bit IMO. A lot of tunes are somehow broey but at the same time sick.

I definitely like some Funky but I tend to like the shit that's leaning towards dubstep/darkness a bit more. Like Beneath Illusions EP is on some level UK Funky with what types of rhythms it uses but apart from certain Cooly G shit basically no Funky I've heard comes close to that type of sound.

Anyone have any funky in that direction?

Yeah them tunes obviously are bangers johney. Most of the stuff Champion makes goes in.

But looking for funky I hear a lot quite bait stuff too

Edit: Basically I've been liking the funky stuff that's quite dubstep affiliated, like Cooly and Scratcha DVA and Beneath and such.

Anyone have any recommendations in that direction?

UK Funky has never been done properly imo, scene just floated about a bit as parts of loads of other shit then died.
