Hello Everyone! I've been making music for years but have always had a hard time mastering. I mix as I go and think everything sounds alright, but the mixdown never sounds good enough (as I'm sure you'll hear.) Seeing as I haven't given any feedback in this thread before, I suppose I should do that before asking anything of anyone.

sawtoothsoldier: DIG this tune. the stabby sines are great and the beat is top notch. ideally i'd love to make more two-step like beats myself but can't find a good kit. sub on the bass is good heavy.

ogunslinger: really like the beat... not too much into that style of bass but regardless, it works. love the filter around the 1.20 mark.... think you should use this more throughout the track. the pitch shifts are nice too, keeps things interesting.

wagsi: love the drops. lfo on the laser-sounding saws is a little too crazy for me at times but the quality is brilliant.

my track is below. i posted it in the dubs section but there's very little activity over yonder. cheers to you all in advance!

Really nice chilled track, the harsh tacky hats bring it down a bit for me though. They feel completely out of place tbh, the rest of the track is so smooth.

trying some darker drum and bass, im pretty new to using reese basses so it doesnt sound that good. But i spent alot more on the drums. :W:

intro is kinda weak.

sawtoothsoldier - I really like the intro and i think you put like a city like atmosphere or something i dunno, but its sounds nice and chill

nruen - subs make my room rattle, has a nice deep directions i like it alot. Dont really listen to this stuff alot but its starting to grow on me.

randorando - that 100bpm shit is super nice man, its got such a good groove :i:

jimbeaux - lovin the bass, reminds me of datsik.

@ctang - Liking this so far man, the drums are snappy and the tone of the reese is nice too. maybe adding a sub would thicken things up nicely for a start, the rest is just tweaking to your own liking methinks.

@jimbeaux - that's really good work man, serious sounds, loving the reverb on the bassline too, adds alot of depth. the piano kinda throws me a bit towards the end is all.

@Nickelwound - I can definitely see what you're goin for there alright. maybe add less distortion/bit crushing as it sounds a bit noisy at the moment.

@RandoRando - Nice sounds man (besides the Airplane sample, which sounds a bit on the shoddy quality side). maybe incorporating the first half of the arrangement into the change at 0.34seconds, using that sound (@0.34) for the first bar maybe? because it kinda goes off in a tangent where i was liking the shuffley feel from the first half.

Here's something i'm trying to get finished up for mastering. let me know yer thoughts if you have the time, nice one.

Yeah im havin trouble arranging it, i like the shuffly groovyness of the beginning, but it just sounds too cliche to me, standard massive wobbles and what not, and i really like the second part, big powerful original sounding synths. im wondering if i should just ditch the first part and make them two serperate songs.

As for your song great job on the mixing dude, everything is audible at the right level and it just flows so well, sound design is top notch also, just one thing though is i hate when it sounds like such good wobbles are high passed layered over a sub, i like when good sounds have defintion in the 200 hz range, like i want to feel the sub-bass AND the wobble together know what i mean? (Dare i use skrillex as a comparison) but, in scary monsters, the main drop thing, the HHNNGG sound that sounds like a voice, in my car i feel the bass tones of the wobble, layered with the sub bass, it fills in the missing gaps and sound quality. Something im trying to work on..

@narrator - oh man quality stuff, really diggin the bass , cool switch up at the middle there, i think a 4/4 drum pattern would have worked there

@RandoRando - love this 100bpm style, pretty cool stuff, the wobbles fit in great...finish it :)

@therebel730 - well dunno thats a pretty simple beat, layer some moar stuff

Been experimenting with some dark, sinister souls kinda track, its not eq-ed or anything and still needs added some variations, but i wanna know what people think so far:

i am totally new to this forum so dont go to harsh on me

@rando rando i love the datsik like bass sounds maybe add some delay on some snares for more background deepness but overall huge attempt

@ctang the drums are really nice compressed only the midrange basssound is a little to quiet

@narrator just huge haha

heres my attempt

Budspencerton - I really hate that song you sampled, I like what you did with the bit crusher though. This song is really weird, is everything in key? I'd work on the arrangement and try to get everything flowing a little better. It has some potential though.

I track that I think is going nowhere. I cant think of any ideas for it. I need some ideas for a bass maybe a synth. This is a sort of Mala inspired track.. I want to get into what I call "True Dubstep"

@thereble730 i wouldn't say that's hip-hop to fast and just sounds like dubstep kinda but its good

@cryokinesis first one is a little boring the bass is in the background changing note every once in a while change it up
the second one is great love the drop don't change it

@narrator love it the intro could be longer and you use the same bass for MOST not all of the song change it up more

now mine i made this REALLY quick i like the idea but dont know where else to go from here:

@BudSpencertron: As far as the intro goes I'm really digging the melody you got going on in the beginning and you use the vocal sample very well. The drums are too dull and silent throughout the track imo even though I really like the conga loop thingy. I really like your drop as its really deep and matches with the progressive and chill style of the track. The second drop, as you may call it, i didn't like as much as the first. maybe less reverb and release on the synth ? other than that big ups mate!

@cryokinesis: dam! lovin the crispy bass! Another thing I really like are the drums as they aren't to synthetic if you know what I mean. You need to get some variation on the synth though as it gets repetitive after a while. maybe implement a melody of some sort ?

@nruen: mellow in the best fucking way mate! Lovin how deep the bass comes in in the intro. did you record that vocal sample ? Not that much more to say imo. Keep it up!

here's my track. been working on it all day yesterday. not really satisfied with the build up plus i don't know how to continue it.
take a listen and give me some feedback!:

Cheers :)

@[and]obey thanks man you should see my headphones there is no way to master anything haha fucking sony breaks on every possible spot. really digging your tune in the beginning with the deep sub maybe add some shuffle to the drums only a little bit some unexpected bassdrum, i like the second part to but maybe split the two and make two tunes out of it.

dude, the synth that comes in after 14 seconds was NICE! U could maybe add some more elements in, not really feeling the kick(lol). I think you should just work on what u got right now, make it even better, add a sub after the drop etc..

@ [and]obey nice plucky synth mate really liking the drop too, sounds like some kinda of humans vs androids warfare lol. I'd say switch out that big fat bass sample and get something more along the lines of the tune. Like some kind of robotic talking or something. Sample starship troopers haha. Also not feeling the kick at all to be completely blunt n honest with ya. Too much top end , not enough low imo.

@ dmisreal tbh i wasnt feeling the intro i was kinda like hmm what is this.. but the drop kindly suprised me bass synth is real nice but it gets almost too disjointed at parts? i know there is no rule on this or watever but the wobble occasionally sounds way too out of wack. maybe add some atmosphere and a bit of verb and it will touch it up nicely.

@BudSpencertron really nice to hear some full vocal focused shit, sounds really nice mate. switches up at the right times etc. i think the intro just doesnt flow right though... the silence kinda leaves u hanging maybe fade the bitcrusher slowly in and then fade it back out quicker so it flows better? i dno this was a really hard one to critique, so nice job mate.

randorando managed to find a track that i actually didnt post on here cos i thought it was dead due to it just being something i was messing around with. would like to hear what you guys thought tho. and like rando said isnt really any sub in the mix.

dmisreal - That song didn't really make much sense... Try finding a melody for the intro and sticking with it. Um, make sure the wobbles match the tempo of the song too.

BevOh - This is awesome  Very entertaining. The wobbles sounds a little too artificial for my liking in some parts though, I'm not sure how you would fix that, but whatever. Sweet song!
