It's the one that proved to me that anime was more than just tentacled demons and big eyed lasses.

I still love anime, just don't watch as much of it as I used to.

Watched Nausicaa the other day tho...
don't think i've heard of that..

the realisation with me was Grave of the Fireflies...i didn't expect to get moved so much by animation as an adult.

Here's a review:

http://www.toondoctor.com/honneamise.htm

But don't read it if you fancy watching it.

It made Studio Gainax's reputation. It's a slow paced meditation on big themes. Little action, lots of dialogue.

I really love it. I've only got it on VHS so I haven't watched it in ages. Must get the DVD.

watched loads of anime as a kid, er... 24 years ago, the Gundam series, Mospeda, Macross etc

Funny how Hasbro (usa) picked up on a load of japanese toys and re-packaged and re-sold the whole lot as Transformers, a few years later.

Best thing I've seen recently is Ergo Proxy. Futuristic wasteland hi-tech vibe, loaded with mysticism and philosophy. The visuals are excellent.. really stylised.

Yeah, i've seen it..it's pretty nasty and sadistic.. I think Takashi Miike voices one of the charachters in it.

I been watching more and more of Death Note, liking very much despite how ridiculous it is. The kinda dastardly plans these guys come up with is insane.

I was in the shower this morning and remembered Orguss 02 (as you do), anyone seen this?? It's a mid 90's classic, a 6 part series which works better being watched as a one off film (a 3 hour film mind you). It has all the ingredients that a classic should have, enormous mechs, political intrigue and girls with psychic/telekinetic powers (coz everyone loves innocent looking kids/girls with mad off powers), all of this wrapped up in a good coat of mid-90's anime atmosphere (not lashings of violence and rape if that's what you're thinking).

Btw, Von, I messaged you to hook u them tunes but never heard from you. Still want?

you can find on torrents subbed cam rip ...decent visual quality
the DVD is coming out in april
personaly i like it, the last (4th) angel is top...nicely remaked ...and theres few changes in storyline but it dont ruins the classic series
