i don't understand this silly concept of banning smoking...fair enough i don't smoke cigerettes but when has a person been to a club and not smelt smoke...is it expected...the gorvernment like fucking round wiv ppls heads to create a certain element of doubt in going to a nightclub....i personally tink that smoke isn't as bigger deal in clubs....and the concerns about passive smoking....BULLSHIT TO THAT because we all have passive smoked more than once in our lifes....has that put our health at risk...NOOOO! bad idea...very bad idea... does this spell the end of clubbin'?.... :| SHOULDNT THE GOV BE MORE INTRESTED IN CRACKIN DOWN SPIKERS!

How do they think they can inforce it?? Would it be an extra reason for bouncers to grip people??...Atleast the police wont be there to dish out those fixed pentalty fines...

People will end up sparking up in the crowd with no way of being caught, just like you can smoke a spliff in pretty much any club. Doesnt sound like theyve thought it through very well, unless the club actually gives a toss...

this is going to be long

whats also worrying is all the other legislation they put through at the same time, id cards, media control, judge dred style on spot convictions etc.

they obviously knew we would be too vexed about the smoking thing to notice the rest... sorry to bring up the initial topic swerve but all these new laws together do reek of mccarthyism at the very least... this country is slipping in a drastic way

all that needs to be done to enforce a smoking ban is to introduce stiff penalties (loss of license, fines etc.) for venues that are deemed to be non-compliant.

and yes, it's horrible. i just hope that people will only take being pushed around so much before...i don't know, common sense prevails?

edit: sorry, just exacerbating the thread derailment.

Who's got time to read seven pages?

We're all too busy smoking.

I've been to a club that makes you throw your cigarettes away before you go in, to make sure you don't smoke.

Actually I don't smoke anymore, but this thread makes me want to start again.

I'm sure this has been said already, and I know how it sounds, but it is really annoying to say the least if you stop smoking and end up breathing other people's smoke, even on the street.

It's like - I went through absolute hell for weeks, lost my job, alienated all my friends, killed my wife, turned into a fat bastard and you want to get me hooked again?

Nicotine addiction is so pernicious - it works on your dopamine and serotonin mechanisms.

theyv done this in washington state and has hurt business's.

My opinion is that it is up to the business to run their business as they see fit. Just the same as smokers can go outside non smokers can not come out at all , this is their choice noone forces them to go out or into the smoky club.

i hate no-smoking areas and i'll hate it even more if the fucking GOVERNMENT is trying to stop me... sheer jokes
