I just love the vibe of Untrue.
Defo, I suppose he has to switch stuff up tho. But Chicago house.......... Come on Son.
My only insight has been that its more uptempo but i presumed that it was still on a more garage/jungle tip.
Housey Burial to me will lack something, the edginess. Shame but i will wait see, still gutted I didnt use the tickets but fuck it. (Then again i love the fourt tet collab)
Icinic is there still the vocal samples in the new stuff? Or big bass?? That to me makes burial

If he carried on making spacey, 2step stuff it would get boring. Well, already has got boring.
Then again, I'm not a die hard Burial fan. Don't get me wrong I do rate him highly, but... certainly not highly enough that if he made Untrue again for the next 10 years that I'd keep buying it.

no the only real bass was the kick drum and that was kind of muffled and back in the mix
gone are all traces of junglist bass and vocal snippets that typified his previous works
some tunes however had rearranged / chopped up little trancey motifs (sampled??) that worked quiet well spatially with the slow gabbaesque thudding kicks
it was kind of like burial doing ambient big room gabba from chicago in 1990 but then taking loads of valium and playing the spoons / bits of wood / tin cans over the top - gettng someone to make a field recording of it then layering that back up again with more effects into somethign more polished - if that makes sense, which it doesnt lol.
i think people will love it, kind of reminds me in a way of Salem, OoOOo etc.

To echoe LC2, the four tet collab was fucking amazing. I cant wait to hear this(hopefully some audio will be unearthed), and I'm sure that this new sound will be as excellent as i imagine it to be.

If it still has the foreboding background noise and atmosphere, I'm all for it. Rain or no rain.

incnic wrote:so who wants to know what teh night was like?
more much more dancefloor / old house vibes thoughout - sounded like slow bumping linear chicago house heavily effected with twisted 'found instrument' percussion and cavernous atmospheres (but no rain noises

) definately sounded like burial tbh but with a tad more euphoria than teh pervious melancholy heavy works.
edit:
also zomby made that youtube tune
lol you ass hole

why anyone would take incnic's word for it is beyond me. so far there is NO authentic firsthand or even second hand accounts of the set that was played last night.

I find it strange that for such a high profile show, there are 0 write-ups or reviews. Maybe it is too soon.

Also lol at Burial goin more housey when the fundamentals of his music were based around pirate dnb jungle and garage!! He has obviously been influenced by Kode 9's love of shit uk funky and rather drab house. Over 3 yrs I'm pretty sure he has some classics still in there.... He prob has 100plus tunes.
He should repay the fans with a double CD perhaps....
