every dubstep show ive been too in Philly, Pittsburgh, B-more, New york, and D.C. there has been people glow sticking and drugs haha. Shit I even glowstick from time to time when im in the right state of mind. I listen to More UK producers but i am really digging a lot of the new American producers

theyre about but they tend not to be at dubstep nights. people at a dubstep dance are generally trying to look hard or cool so glowsticks dont quite fit the bill. more of a flat peak and air force ones kinda vibe in the UK i think.

Live from Los Angeles:

Way back in the day when I first started listening to dubstep (seven years ago), when the only dubstep around was in the side room of a dnb party, this was the case here as well. Most people lookin hard, everyone looking cool, and not a candyraver in sight. It's easy to visualize how a US scene that formed from dnb/jungle would not be friendly to glowsticks and the like.

I would say that things have changed alot, but I'm not exactly sure how. I might say that the dubstep scene has been invaded by hipsters and ravers. I might also say that most of what gets called dubstep today, at least in Los Angeles, is more an amalgamation of styles that some find easy to compare to dubstep (ie FlyLo).

I went to a party a few weeks back to see Mochipet. It was hosted by BWOMP, which stands for Bass WithOut Musical Preference. I like that name. With such variation in music these days, I prefer to enjoy the tune rather than agonize over what genre it may or may not be.

Doesn't really matter as long as you are enjoying yourself.

[side note that is actually relevant to the topic: I find that the best UK producers are dubstep purists, whereas the best US producers have no problem experimenting and possibly violating the structure of the genre. Which is better? I don't know, nor do I care. They are both enjoyable in their own right. One thing is for sure though - if there were no UK dubstep producers, there would be no US dubstep producers ]

since it originated in UK i think there entitle to always keep raising the bar and you know how us americans always shitting on shit i think both sides will be bringin it eitherway one more thing i dont think music should be a competition nobody really cares as long as its quality and has feeling

is flat peak the same as a flat brim? like a fitted new era? It seems like most Dudes at dubstep shows in philly wear Phillies Flatbrim hats and Nikies or oldschool vans. Thats how me and all my friends dress. You will see dudes with facial tattoos, who you can tell are real dudes, glow sticking or gloving at dubstep shows on the eastcoast. It seems to me that dubstep in the UK is more mainstream where as In the east coast of american dubstep is part of the rave scene. Because its part of the rave scene a lot of the people at dubstep shows on the east coast are either on k, acid, E, or blackout drunk.
