i just used a line out from my mixer into the line in on my mbp and then used the line in for the mic. but it kept cutting it and turning itself down in the chat :/

I do the same thing, without the mic. The trick is to keep the sound preferences window open and monitor the level going into the laptop. For people who have also used ustream, is the tinychat streaming better/worse with the audio quality ?

Used Ustream the other night, the bass kicked in and destroyed the overall quality on a massive scale.
