Boddika is having a EP mastered i saw on FB. Which tunes are on it I don't know. I guess the Zed Bias and FunkBias tracks will make up one 12".

Whatever the order is i'm sure the quality will be good cant wait for Electron.

Never understood that attitude. Surely it's up to the artist/label head to decide how they want to release the tunes? Always see that argument being brought against digital heads, but it's a sword that cuts both ways. If Loefah decided to release digital (which being realistic, I don't think he will) I'd be very happy. Vinyl lovers still get their vinyl, it's not like Dark Reign's saying it should be digi only...

You should definitely cop Tempa Allstars Vol. 2 man, too many big tracks on there. They've been repressing their back catalogue regularly now (hence it won't sting your wallet so much) and 'Truly Dread' is well... truly dread lol.

Maybe the best dubstep album ever (not counting Burial) so very, very happy! I also see what you're saying mate, but my point was that if Loefah did decide to release digitally the "sense of entitlement" rhetoric would then land on the other side of the fence - and it'd be interesting the see if anyone pulled a u-turn on that point. Thing is, Mala loves vinyl too and people like your good self continue to buy vinyl. Deep Medi release tracks digitally now as well, so people without the means/inclination to buy vinyl can enjoy them. Might be a bit of an assertion, but have Deep Medi lost any vinyl sales since making the switch or have they simply increased the amount of people with access to the tunes? That's a good thing in my view.

I can't help but think Quest's complaints earlier last year about not getting enough love, and Mala's remarks about being unable to keep up vinyl only distribution because it was affecting the artists he signed, are probably related.

That said... I'm actually hoping Loefah does go for the cassette release.

yeah sure, but imagine listening to music for 2 or 3 hrs (or more likely for a whole day) while playing a game, brwosing the web, chatting, etc. this way...

Whoever said Loefah owes us nothing is spot on. He is an absolute ambassador of the uk's remarkable dubplate culture. anybody who calls for mp3 releases and a compilation of old 12s (god forbid!!!!) is certainly slightly out of touch with the roots and mindset of all those who "run" the scene. i do totally agree that its annoying hearing tunes for 12months and then being bored by the time of release but love it or not that is exactly what dubplate culture is and also how it survives the test of time! loefahs appearance fees at gigs probably earns him a much better wage than the profits made off vinyl releases so therefore he will also hold onto tunes for as long as possible, i would!! it keeps people coming through the doors of clubs, even more important considering he does most of his trade in the saturated city of london where there is always a potentially better night to attend.

people should just be grateful that loefah (a self-confessed "slow one") took the time at all to bring swamp81 into fruition and took the time to bring us tunes that otherwise may never have seen the light of day. would you rather have the tune 12months after its radio time or never at all?

i remember a time when typing dubstep into itunes would result in the computer equivalent response of F*CK OFF. the scene has never been about releasing tunes as quickly as possible for maximum profit..... it has (and hopefully always will be) about rinsing good music as loud as possible for as long as possible before the lights turn on. if you cant live with that then maybe just buy an ipod and start listening to cheryl cole.

banquo: forget me if i don't get it but you talk about the dubplate culture which is completly different thing. i don't think the guy who wrote the digital thing wants to have the tunes in mp3 right after he hears it. he just wants to have another alternative of buying a tune _after_ the release date. dubplate culture is not vinyl culture.

not saying dubplate culture IS vinyl culture but in the context of the release argument (what this thread was started as) they go hand in hand. one explains the other
