I was pretty hyped when I read today about "Ego" - to be honest I was trying to buy/ship this not even listening a bit...
... and I'm glad I didn't.
Here's my question: Is Burial nowadays somekind of marketing "catch/trick" ?
Every time I listen to his collab-tunes I don't hear any kind of Burial at all... First Prophecy with El-b atmosphere now Ego with Four-tet beat-style.
I'm kinda dissapointed sir.
Still fingers crossed for new album this year (please!) - and I really hope it's not going to be housey stuff (Loefah keep your dirty fingers away from this guy! haha ).
I really miss "old" Burial thing.
"Mirror" - listening to it right now - yup, much better than Ego IMO. Still garage'y/EL'b as fuck
Maybe I'm expecting too much from guy, I know he's an artist/human (?) and he can do whatever he wants... but anyway after 2 really moody, dark LP's new house-vibe stuff would be...hmm...let's call it weird?
cheers.

I'm on my iPhone, was the track just posted Ego? If so, has anyone upped Mirror to YouTube? Don't think I'm going to sleep tonight if I don't hear it ha

Really like them both. Ego, while perhaps not the Burial we know, is still dark and atmospheric as fuck, just with a more Four Tet type beat - but what's wrong with that?
why is mirror sounding much more burial than ego? confusing. big love to the guys for the wonderful music.

I’m sure Four Tet did the drums on Ego… its just.. I just seems like it. Burial probably played synths over it.

Mirror is definitely the one, great tune. I reckon both Burial and Four Tet did songs with Thom Yorke then went back and forth changing them, there is very subtle Burial-like elements in Ego but you know in mere seconds that Mirror is pretty much entirely Burial's work. Impressed, but I don't think I am listening to them in the right context - an excited college student who should be sleeping but stayed up to hear these tracks.

This is quite an EPIC record.
The new Radiohead has come as a surprise!
It's really awesome, kinda reminds me of Joy Division's "Closer"
