Re: The Weeknd!
Pretty sure a stupid amount of people bought Adeles album on vinyl and thats as mainstream as it gets.
Not to mention he was faaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaar from mainstream when he first came out and that fans actually started banging on about a full release on vinyl back when Thursday came out.
Edit: its also kind of annyoing that they never even put it out on a album by album vinyl as I would have bagged them after each release. Oh well.

Re: The Weeknd!
lol nah its intended for fans of the Weeknd, who as far as I can tell want the vinyl! theres people all over the web crying out for it - on message boards, some dude said they wanted the vinyl and it got like 500 'likes', a shit load more likes than any other comment in the comments section of the post/ articleultraspatial wrote:It's intended for a mainstream audience, who doesn't buy vinylmurky21 wrote:seems weird that, considering it has pretty much already been released, they aren't gonna press record as well as cd. Besides this Trilogy seems to be all about 'collectability' - why else would you release something that is already available? not for a few re-masters/ edits that most people don't seem to like anyway. And vinyl boxset would have been an obvious collectors choice

Re: The Weeknd!
Tracks are remastered right? Couple instrumentals sound different to the mixtapes... That sucks, Glass Table Girls's beat is annoying now :/
Re: The Weeknd!
I think the best thing about this release, for me at least, is that it improved the only two tracks in the whole trilogy that I didn't consider up to par with the rest of the songs without ruining any of the songs I already thought were perfect. Those being Lonely Star (sounded a bit washed-out before, now it's really clear and has a more 'epic' feel) and The Fall, which I thought sounded a bit awkwardly put together, but they changed the guitar sound and somehow fixed everything that bothered me about it.
The changes to What You Need, The Morning and Glass Table Girls are a little annoying, but since I'm keeping the mixtapes in my iTunes library it's not like I can't just listen to the original versions. It's also worth noting that The Fall, The After Party, Life of the Party and Valerie go HARD in a car with a sub.

Fair enough. Never looked at it that way tbh. In my mind it's something more like "ok this dude has got an insame amount of hype, let's push him forward".murky21 wrote:lol nah its intended for fans of the Weeknd, who as far as I can tell want the vinyl! theres people all over the web crying out for it - on message boards, some dude said they wanted the vinyl and it got like 500 'likes', a shit load more likes than any other comment in the comments section of the post/ articleultraspatial wrote:It's intended for a mainstream audience, who doesn't buy vinylmurky21 wrote:seems weird that, considering it has pretty much already been released, they aren't gonna press record as well as cd. Re: The Weeknd!
Nah that was just nerves and inexperience in his early shows, he's much better now. Check out the live acoustic performances he did on BBC radioLiam92 wrote:Got tickets to see him in March, hyped! Been hearing that his voice ain't that great live though?

Re: The Weeknd!
I preferred The Weeknd back when it was a black guy and a white guy.
Glass Table Girls / House of Balloons though, that's the one.

Re: The Weeknd!
Dafuq are you talking about? The Weeknd is just the name of the singer, as in Abel's individual stage name. It's never been a group of any sort, the producers are separate.

Basically 'The Weekend' used to be two people, Jeremy Rose and Abel Tesfaye. Rose produced a couple of tracks that Drake then went on to share with the world, thus creating the hype around the pair - but that's only after they had a little spat about Rose being an engineer rather than the pair being a 'group/band'.

Re: The Weeknd!
Yup. Really doubt those 'The Weeknd' remixes have anything to do with Abel
Re: The Weeknd!
yeyeye bro keep thinking 40 is the producer behind The Weeknd

Re: The Weeknd!
Yeah they had beef before Abel blew up, went their separate ways and Rose gave Abel permission to use the riddims he built provided he accredited him, which he later didn't.
Meh, a lot of big artists are wankers, Zomby is case in point...
Zodiac eventually got recognition, and recently released a badboy EP of his own, check 'Loss Config'; haunting!
