Man there's always going to be willfully ignorant people out there. But IMO hate from either side is not going to help. Is your end goal to educate or to bash their skull in to the point that they just retreat further to their own side? I can't really claim myself to have been around all that long seeing I only discovered the genre just a few years ago. But I can tell you that I've been listening to hip hop since I was a kid and the same thing has happened there. So many people are ignorant to guys that I consider dons. For a while I was just so pissed off that people actually enjoyed listening to most of the stuff that plays on the radio nowadays. But the fact is no matter how much of the synthed and pop'd out trap rap gets made, there's always going to be guys pushing the sound that I like; and if somebody else likes all that stuff and doesn't want to learn about what I consider "real hiphop", well then that's their perogative. In that aspect it seems like a futile enterprise (in my experience) to try to ram something down their throats. If they don't want to hear the older stuff or think it's boring, than so what. It doesn't change anything. But maybe I run into someone down the line who's never heard "return of the crooklyn dodgers" or "survival of the fittest" and all the sudden they get into it. But If I were to just tell them, "you're hiphop doesn't sound like the older stuff, and it sucks ass, but mine is good, you should check it out", they probably wouldn't bite. Anyways this made a lot more sense in my head. Either way though, I see where you're coming from and understand the frustration.

it is just frustration more than anything. i dont care what people listen to, i just hate it when im told that what i (personaly) listen to isnt dubstep... it makes me think "hey, wait a minute, so wtf have i been listening to for the last 6 years?"

ive sort of started to let it go in more recent times thought, and im finding myself trying to educate over just throwing a shitfit, but alas, 9/10 times i get the "this isnt dubstep" or "this isnt filthy/dirty/grimey/skrillexy enough"... and its at that point i usually get increadibly annoyed.

ill like this one then, this past week i turned my cousin from thinking all dubstep was shit and that skrillex created it, into getting all the old skream and benga oldies. It was a good week

there is a bit of a line between tearout & bro... ie coki, kromestar, goth-trad... they all make good tearout, and it would be pretty hard to catorgorize is as brostep
