don't want to perfectly replicate the sound, just a certain aspect of it in NImassive if possible...

its the higher frequency almost granular sounding texture to the bass in the intro to this vid:

not the tutorial itself but the bass sound on the intro.

I've tried messing with chrome on -bend etc, but i can't seem to quite get the sweet spot... any ideas?

i think its a combination of things. firstly i think its a stereo effect, meaning the instruments themselves are stereo and spread out wide accross the stereo spectrum. you could try eqing left and right channels a little differently to get some width. second i think there's a lot of compression going on there but without loosing the dynamics. try doubling your tracks and compressing one of them, drop the volume (of the compressed one) to -160 then slowly bring it up until the sound feels fatter but not muffled.

It's the sound at 1:27.

Cheers!

Me too! Any idea? Seems like a pretty 'simple' jungle technique but i cant get my head around it!
if its the sound i'm thinking of then i think i can do it in massive.
three oscilators of square-saw1 all of them with the Wt at around 10 or 11 o'clock and dropped an octave. detune one up a bit to like -11.80 and one down a bit to
-12.20. then LFO a cutoff and put brauner tube at the end. then you're done.

I've got the supersaw down with a sub line, but it seems to be lacking the mid/bass and width that the one in the track above uses, so any tips?

Hard Hitting Basses

In a lot of songs I listen to there are some hard hitting, screaming basses that get the adrenaline going. My question today is how would I go about making these in massive and FL studio? I have gotten some of the basics down on making the basic basses but I can't figure out how to make the hardcore bass, and bass drops.

Some examples

At :54

1:35

And of course there is also Skrillex.

Select the "Sonny" preset in Massive, pretty much all hard basses stem from this patch - you'll probably just have to tweak the LFOs to suit your track and BAM, instaskrillex.

I'm looking to make that Electro Plucking sound I've been hearing in Electro house music for a wile now. I love the sound, but can't even seem to get anything close.... to be honest, I’m not even sure were to begin.

The sound can be heard in Wolfgang Gartner's "Fire Power" track: http://www.google.com/url?q=http://www. ... zxZBZNwbsA

The sound I’m talking about come in first at around 1:26, then again at 1:34, then at 1:42 and so on. It kinda sounds like some plucking synth string with sidechain and a bunch of other effects. I just love the sound and how it flows.

P.S. I use Ableton with Massive mostly, but also use Sylenth1. Looking to make it in one of thoughs.

Thanks for any help you can give.

Youtube "sylenth deadmau5 plucks", you'll find a tut that gets you pretty much that, just play some stuttered chords in a quick pattern and automate the filter cutff to open as they play.

The bass line on this track is probably one of my favourites. So gritty and the discreet LFO is really something special. Can anyone explain how this is achieved, and what software was scream using back in these early days?

In answer to the first suggestion yeah I've already seen that .

Yeah ive tried ny compression but that not the effect in going for.. I got a little success with duplicating and messing with stereo effects but I knew that would give me that bright yet muffled sound

been thinking about this one for a while now...

despite everything sitting fucking perfectly in this track, the sub line is what intrigues me.

seems like it may have been built with an FM synth with separate wave forms and their envelopes modulating the sine wave, adding harmonics. this could be way off though :?

it also seems like the sub is placed on 1, 3, etc with the kick and snare respectively. or it possibly could just sit throughout the whole pattern, i have no idea...

any more ideas would be awesome, this sub is fucking killer!

thanks fellas :D

Looking how to make the two lead sounds used in the drop of this song.
The first one has lots of vibrato, and the second might be the same as the first without vibrato I'm not sure.

yeah i can do that: NImassive again

two oscillators one set to sin-square Wt all the way to the right, one set to square-saw1 Wt also all the way to the right
add a hardclipper then a parabolic shaper the dry/wet on both set to 2 o'clock the drives set to 12
in the Voices tab set the unisolo to 2, turn on the pan position and push it all the way to the right.
[for the vibrato one only] On the Osc tab set the Vibrato rate to 2 oclock and the depth to 10 o'clock.
turn on Brauner tube and set the dry/wet and drive to 2 oclock.

How to create that synth that comes in at 18 seconds?

How to make the bass from Mikey B street fighter

Can anyone help me make the bass that starts at 35 seconds? I want to make a wobble out of it. In this song it is used as quick notes but i think i could make a similar bass that i can use to hold a longer note and wobble it. I think it kind of sounds like the 2nd bass in rusko's jahova.

The sound i'm after starts at 44 seconds. There is basically 2 wobbles in that song and it's the 2nd one i'm after. But i want to make it sound a little more like the one from the street fighter song. I am having a really hard time making this noise. My basses don't have that subtle high end screech. And when i try to add that high end it gets a little too metallic sounding. The wobbliness isn't as "smooth" as i want it. It's rough and either too high pitched or it doesn't have any screech. I have been using massive and albino 3 and the closest i got was with albino 3. Do you guys think this is one patch or is it a layered sound? I honestly feel like it is one patch. Obviously multiple osc's but i think it can be achieved with one patch. Let me know what you guys think is going on in these sounds and please give me some tips on how to make this sound i'm after. Thanks!

Anyone know how to get that lead synth sound, starts right from the beginning of the track
I can't seem to wrap my head around it, it just sounds so organic but all the sounds I make always have that sort of digital grit to them
:?

Okay, this should be an easy one.

1:30, that HUUUGE saw bass sound. It's so stupid simple but for whatever reason I can never really get mine to sound as defined. They're always lacking in fullness so they don't pop out of the mix like that. Really hungover today and I just can't nail it, anyone got any clue on what these guys are doing?
