Well that's a philosophical question that I certainly don't have the answer to, fuck m8son, you have put me on a downer.
Ha i have been on a downer for the last 6 months thinking about this shit.

What is the point in anything?
If all our preconceived ideas of right and wrong are based on an assumed (and ultimately unknowable) ultimate truth, then why do we bother to strive for what the people that came before us did. Because they said it's right??

Exactly, there is no point to anything, there is no reason to live. There is no ultimate meaning to our existence. Evolution has made us blind to these truths in order to convince us to carry on striving for survival to carry forward the species. For what reason? There is no end point, evolution will continue until humans are wiped out and then it will just start again.
I just don't see any alternatives. why not go along with all the bullshit, what other options are there? What makes the other options anymore attractive.

Are you saying there is no suffering or that 'good' and 'bad' don't exist?
I think that dying is not negative. Suffering is bad, and we have to try and avoid it. but we also have to take in count that we are making other living creatures suffer constantly killing them for eating, this isn´t bad at all is just the natural equilibrium, so when is our turn to suffer we have to assume our responsability as members of an ecosystem

You don't see wonder in the world?

Yeah i do although i realise most of that wonder comes from me idolising the future.
What i mean is that there is no ultimate reason to live. No god to please and no heaven to gain entry to. In 200 years time it will matter not if we lived our lives to the full and saw or did many great things or whether we sat in our bedroom and watched telly all day.

BUT all of what you're saying is still based on an unknown truth.
We don't know if there's a point and we don't know there isn't either. The only real option for the non-religious is to shrug it off and have as much fun as possible while doing as little harm as possible.

I think that dying is not negative. Suffering is bad
So if the tribe dies from a disease it
is bad then.

why? because they suffer? i think that the part that you didn´t quote answered that question.
Suffering is bad, and we have to try and avoid it. BUT we also have to take in count that we are making other living creatures suffer constantly killing them for eating, this isn´t bad at all is just the natural equilibrium, so when is our turn to suffer we have to assume our responsability as members of an ecosystem
so no, it´s not bad

Our over-procreation is unsustainable
so our number one problem becomes our inability to adapt quickly enough to living amidst our own shit
The solution is inter-species cooperation & space travel.

cmon laszlo you are just playing with language. as i said is bad for the one that is suffering but thanks to that suffering some other is enjoying, it´s a cycle in wich we have to assume that sometimes we have to suffer.

It may seem like i'm playing with language but i'm just trying to get to the bottom of your philosophy. Exactitude is important for my understanding but I think we've got there now.
Actually that's a lie but it's far to complicated so..
1. All existence is dukkha. The word dukkha has been variously translated as ‘suffering’, ‘anguish’, ‘pain’, or ‘unsatisfactoriness’. The Buddha’s insight was that our lives are a struggle, and we do not find ultimate happiness or satisfaction in anything we experience. This is the problem of existence.
2. The cause of dukkha is craving. The natural human tendency is to blame our difficulties on things outside ourselves. But the Buddha says that their actual root is to be found in the mind itself. In particular our tendency to grasp at things (or alternatively to push them away) places us fundamentally at odds with the way life really is.
3. The cessation of dukkha comes with the cessation of craving. As we are the ultimate cause of our difficulties, we are also the solution. We cannot change the things that happen to us, but we can change our responses.
4. There is a path that leads from dukkha. Although the Buddha throws responsibility back on to the individual he also taught methods through which we can change ourselves, for example the Noble Eightfold Path.

i highly respect buddhist because if they are tru heads they don´t bother anyone but i don´t agree with their philosophy at all, in fact is tthe same fail of permanent and transient that i quoted from you before: they don´t accept a transient happiness they want a
ultimate happiness or satisfaction in anything we experience.
then they say that life is equal to suffering etc but then why not comiting suicide? noooooo! because they want the promised Nirvana, the magic place out of this changing world where they will find; inmortality, ultimate happiness or satisfaction in anything we experience and perfect equillibrium = all permanent things

the point of everything is........ dopamine. in the present or in the future, the perceived maximization of dopamine is the point of life.
