Re: R.I.P. Rashad
I didn't believe this news when i first saw it. It really is true though, and upsetting to hear.
DJ Rashad just spun here with DJ Spinn on the 25th.

Re: R.I.P. Rashad
R.I.P Rashad, only recently got into footwork stuff proper, every tune of this mans I heard was absolute fire, massive loss to underground music
Re: R.I.P. Rashad
I kicked at least 5 guys from my facebook friendlist because they suddenly became all Teklife 4 Life and shit. little white-as-fuck manlets from the bourgoisie.

people making other people's death about themselves.

Re: R.I.P. Rashad
Did any of them use the opportunity to pimp one of their own tunes/mixtapes/re-edits of a Rashad track? Been a fair bit of that floating about.Jurkhands wrote:people making other people's death about themselves.
Re: R.I.P. Rashad
I think there is a balance, producers/DJs want to pay respects publicly because they were inspired by the guy, how are they supposed to do that other than through music? At the same time, there will be people band wagon jumping to make a quick buck.
Personally I would rather the people who felt they needed to make tribute did, than be reluctant to because of the stigma of cashing in over the guy's death.

All that melts away when the lights are down and the bass is up.

1) Teklife Tribute mixed by Kode9
vs
2) DJ Rashad - I Don't Give A Fuck (Zilthfilla remix)
For example.

Re: R.I.P. Rashad
Stray made a nice tribute track. Free download. You can hear admiration and influence all through his work from Rashad, completly fair enough and appropriate imo.
Similarly, tribute mixes, mixed by anyone, completely fair enough. people should be able to celebrate his work in ways such as that imo, not necessarily about gaining personal exposure

Great tune, thanks for sharing.murky21 wrote:https://soundcloud.com/straydnb/stray-l ... ive-a-fuck
Soundcloud comments are a perfect example of what I was talking about though. Even on a tribute track you've got people posting "BLOGGED AT SHITTY-BLOG.COM" all over the place
