Hahaha, yeah I can't believe people don't even know what Dub/raggae and Jungle/Drum and bass is...

I mean even people living under a rock for 20 years would know at least ONE SONG! facking hell...

I use the term 'Dubstep' and people think its.. "WUBWUBWUBWUB" or .. "It all sounds the same".

Then again, i'm glad people like this DON'T know what dubstep is.

just to confirm as some people in this thread didn't get this

i LOVE that which is referred to as dubstep for the most part

i rep the scene plenty seeing as i've put on 3 events off my own back with another much bigger one on the way..

i just was admitting that i feel silly calling it dubstep sometimes

it makes me feel like a scenester a little bit...a lot of girls say 'i love dubstep, dubsteps great etc etc'..the same ones that say they love drum & bass man that dig pendulum

i was just seeing if anyone agreed and it seems some people do

i'd like it if we had sub genres that sounded cooler

amen jungle, drumfunk, techstep etc etc

;-)

That's the thing, isn' it. Merely saying 'dubstep' is admitting you're a music nerd. At least, for now.

I have no qualms about those kids repping dubstep. It's the mainstream support that pushes a sound out on a larger scale ... as long as there are people like Kode-9 and Mala, DZ, Parson .. people who are really pushing any boundary that may try and present itself out another hundred yards, then who cares who else is listening? The more the marry, if you ask me... regardless of their other musical tastes. its all about the music anyways. If I can share a sound I know is dope with someone else who's tastes are.. lets say .. less than dope .. mission accomplished.

im not ranting.. im bored at work and had something to add.

nah thats fair enough...i was just typing what i thought

it doesn't bother me massively and i know these people need to be on board but it makes it seem a bit cheaper:/

it should be the music that wins it plaudits not the image imo is what i'm trying to get at

i mean shackleton & burial really sound nothing like caspa & rusko

it kinda seems off its all under the term dubstep in a sense...i know sub is the key factor but the same can be said for d&b & electro AND breakbeat

but fair enough this thread probably makes me look like an elitist

Naw.. not an elitist .. just bored on a Saturday .. haha

Caspa and Rusko vs. Burial and Shakleton .. I hear you. Both under the "umbrella" of "Dubstep" yet two different schools of sound.....

both of which will find its way into one of my sets.
