The Beatstep's cool if a bit limited. I bought it maybe 2 days before they unleashed the Pro at NAMM (damm). I'm going to keep it, probably just to modulate something through CV - such as the modulation control on the SDE-2000. It seems to have a few issues communicating MIDI data to some of my other hardware though, strange double-time sequencing errors and such. The Pro will suit my needs much better I think. I love the SDE! Been making some weird grainy atmospheres with it to sample later.

What a great bit of kit it is! Some emulations are better than others but it has serious bang-for-buck value for sure. The MicroGranny looks like so much fun! I've got a Mopho desktop, a Virus TI Snow and some E-MU modules (E5000 sampler, Proteus 2000 and an Orbit), so have been looking to add stuff to complement those in a live environment. The E5000's not really suitable for what I want to do live hence my lust for a Volca Sample and/or MicroGranny

@mks Thing is at the prices those things are going for, the Boss RPS, especially the ones from Japan...I'll just buy a Strymon El Capistan tape echo pedal... all the Boss Micro Racks just seem overprice IMO...I mean if they sound amazing that is one thing...I'll have to check that video when I've got headphones or speakers...
@3rdEye: I have a love hate relationship with my Volca Keys...but the Volca Sampler looks interesting...but the MicroGranny...I know that'll be a beast...

Yeah, $30 for one of them was a good deal. But $160 or $199 plus shipping, I'm not so sure. That one today went for $99. Probably a good deal, but I only bid 50.

I like the sound of the Keys (apart from
that delay lol) and it's got some really nice performance capabilities, nice tight envelopes etc. But it is a bit noisy and perhaps a bit fiddly to use. I wasn't sure about the Volca Sample at all when it first dropped, but seeing a few vids on youtube has changed my mind - it's got bags of creative potential and is actually quite powerful. Plus you don't need to use just iOS to manage samples now that they released the source code to the public.
That and a MicroGranny would be a sick wee combo I reckon!

I just lost a bid on a RSD-10. Someone wanted it more than me. I think I want to check a couple of these out.
What did you go up to?
Btw, I'm one of those people that doesn't play hide and seek with money, just another facade (unless I'm really embarassed because I over paid). I just think more accurate information = better buyers and sellers. So I hold no punches, if I offend...

Dude, I was unaware of this thing. So good to see pedals stepping up their game. I really want to hear some samples of this thing in action.
I've got a boss multifx guitar pedal from the early/mid 90's. To my knowledge, it is a piece of shit. Even back then, I tried to talk my guitarist out of it cause it sounded like shit. I can't even imagine how it sounds against today's quality digital fx.
Oh, and the microgranny. I had serious gas over this thing. Someone even gave me cash for a birthday present to buy this thing, I was gassing after I think Wub showed us this thing... But had to use the money for doctors
If you get it, please post up some samples. Freaking wub booked it, and never put up some samples.

Can route the samples through the poly architecture, filter, vca's. Can treat it like another osc, a sub osc, or just more texture. This sounds really interesting, as well as just to get a 12 bit for crunchy drum duty.
I would want an S-950 just for the 12bit on drums. How much are they going for these days? I'm still keeping my S-5000, it's just not installed in my studio anymore.
edit:
Gosh, those things are huge!!
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Akai-S950-Rare- ... 35e514540e
Yeah, huge, like cinderblock! Always wanted one of those 12 bit, but I know myself, if there is a fiddly interface, I'm prolly just gonna leave it in my day to day practice. Chopping and naming on those little buttons was a PITA back then, but now, knowing how fast it could be, it is truly painful. But using it as another oscillator, and a fucking wild 12bit but jacked oscillator through analog circuitry... I would be down for that. Just grab single cycles, have a set of legit waveforms, but also just grab cycles from random samples... shit man, I'm like insane desirous right now.

says I can use any of these samplers: S-612, S-700, X-7000, S-900 and S-950. I think it was originally supposed to go with a s-612, but they kept up with that 13 pin din on subsequent models. Crazy thing is that cable is still available, it is some part used in marine radios or something
Can't wait to make marine radio techno/hip hop hybrid beats.

I used to make beats on those S-612's with my roomate, this was done in his studio. Those were some crazy lo-fi old machines. We actually made some decent electro, mostly all Roland gear with that old Akai and some other shit. I need to dig up those cassettes!

Also hearing that the prophet 6 is going for ~2,300... bro. That is creeping towards, like... something approaching reasonable.
Would be so nice if the analog bubble burst RIGHT NOW.

Hey Frag, what midi channel does the volca keys receive on?
