Stranger Than Fiction is seriously good
Think Being John Malkovich meets Truman Show with a very good score.
Probably in my top 10.

Yeah people always say that acting funny is much harder than acting serious/tragic/whatever, so if you've got that down you have a big advantage

Anyway a comedian is not really an actor. An actor have to be able to do all kind of roles. Some comedians arent doing a role jusg being themselves in the skin of other

In essence that might be true but it never really is.
The ones who are succesful are often not that versatile. Like Gossling, Matt Damon, Merryl Streep, Leo or Denzel.
Whereas dudes like
Jeffrey Tambor, Bill Murray, Peter Sellers, Paddy Considine, Will Forte, Will Ferrel or even Jamie Foxx can do a number of different convincing roles.
Ofcourse there's the fact that for example Denzel wouldn't get a script with any depth to the character he plays and therefor it's down to the director actually insisting on really directing the scene... but 'actors' like Denzel rarely work with really good directors because their name is the first to get attached to the script, like some franchise type deal that is easier to produce than good films.
There's very few really good actors that have that depth like imo Kate Winslet or Russel Crowe has. Sam Rockwell looked like he could be that but now he's all shtick (which ironically means comedic theme or gimmick btw)..

I think Diego was referring to the difference between actor and stage comedian.
Could be wrong though.
But I definitely agree. Seems like good funny actors can jump between parts very well.
Kind of like sketch.

yeah man good point
sketches could be a big part in that
oh and what i'm saying mostly applies to like the hollywood climate where they actually fucked up the tradition. It's apparent that in hollywood for example (atm) it's more effective to go with no names and trying to chase another hunger games where every big studio has their own little jenniffer lawrence wannabe they want to break. ie divergent, the giver, the maze runner etc
kick ass and kick ass 2 are british productions and more forward thinking despite of the american feel they sort of have.. not the best example but still.
So imo they could just suck less dicks in H and turn it around.. which could open it up for genuine acting again.. but Im not holding my breath.

caught up on a few animated ones recently:
Kung Fu Panda 1/2 - I enjoyed them both, equally funny and heartfelt moments, Gary Oldman in the sequel was a good choice.
Ratatouille - I thought it was really clever in some sections, Patton Oswalt was really good.
Corpse Bride - 77mins long and felt it, pretty predictable. Still had the Tim Burton boxset out so I watched Sweeney Todd a few days later and enjoyed that a lot.
a few new bits:
Gone Girl - loved it, kept me entertained the whole way through.
The Interview - funnier than I thought it would be, probably watch it again next Christmas with the lads.
and one amazing film:
The Skin I Live - cannot recommend this one enough, I was glued to the screen. The cinematography, acting, music, story, everything. Never really liked Antonio Banderas too much before this one, maybe the film being in Spanish had something to do with it, felt far more natural.
