predestination. really interesting concept. surely some sciencey poss plotholes and such but yeh enjoyed it.
had 3 waves of 'ahhh, thats whats going on.' as in 3 tiers of revelation. I got it from the scriptual tropes early on, then there was the more blatant obvious wave. and then an actual in film explanation.

worth a watch defo

edit

had to put in a 'd'. relevant

Shoah. Important and worth watching as a document to what happened but you could just as easily had a black screen with subtitles to get the same effect. Nuit et Brouillard has more cinematic merit as a holocaust documentary

I don't expect much from this one honestly. Worth it in your opinion though?

I thought it was really good. Kind of like Big Lebowski meets Boogie Nights
with a bit of a Wes Anderson feel. I hope that makes sense

aight I've been watching some films set in new york city lately

Image

I got ready for this to be quiet bait in the first 10 minutes...it has a weird in your face attitude at first which is a bit obnoxious and not actually in line with what the main character is like. I really liked it after that though. One of the most honest and least eye-rolling coming-of-age teenager type films I've seen. Also obviously loads of classic early 90's rap on the soundtrack. Really good film.

Image

Really liked this but wasn't so hot on the way it resolved. I kept waiting for it to go a little further with the whole maths-mystecism,"the equation for omniscience" "reality is maybe coming apart at the seams", "the brain can't understand" plot. It felt like it was slowly creeping towards a revelatory climax but in the end it just kinda just shows you those ideas without really making a conclusion.

Of course being darren aronofsky it was tense as fuck and never ever boring. Also great great music. Cool to see Clint Mansell doing something not at all anthemic or epic-sounding. My favorite out of these three.

Image

Good film. Of course pretty Oscar-ey but also straightforward and raw sometimes more than you'd think. The final discussion scene in the film was pretty painful to watch.

Sound wasn't great in my copy either. It was just Phoenix that was hard to follow though.
Narration -which was a great voice btw- was pretty clear.

you guys don't get annoyed watching a film, specially inherent vice that looks sick visually and musically, in shit quality ?
its like hearing an lp you have been waiting for a long time in 240p in youtube. well is worst as you don't see a film as much times as you hear an album
