Re: What game are you playing?
oops just saw this.. do you work in game design then? Yeah even lynda.com have a Unity course that looks cool.. I like that there are a lot of example projects that you can learn from too..Phase Down wrote:I have worked with Unity3D quite a bit, it is really great so I advice you to get started with it! It gets as simple as dragging scripts onto objects and visa versa dropping objects into scrips, the code is unityscript basically javascript but the more "pro" people would swear down by using C# instead.imami wrote:Well actionscript is interpreted at runtime like basic right? or is it compiled to bytecode like java?
Deadly that is a cool idea with the kickstarter thing.. If people already like the digi version they are more likely to be excited about a tabletop version and stuff..
I really like the integrated, streamlined workflow aspect of Unity3D.. I think maybe having experience with using it could also lead to job opportunities down the road.. I read somewhere that like 52% of newly released iphone games are made with Unity3D? Seems like a lot.. maybe i read that in a unity sales pitch hehe
Don't starve is pretty fun.. i like the visual style and the attention to detail.. Does anyone know what it's coded in or w/e? It's 3D but it looks like it uses 2D sprites for the player and stuff you interact with. I guess that's why the camera has a fixed rotation despite being able to zoom in.
A lot of games are being built with unity these days, and there are so many example projects / really low priced start-out projects you can learn huge amounts from.
http://tornadotwins.com/ <-- these guys have some very decent unity tutorials out there, ignore their music.
i have been using Processing to practice my java coding.. It's a generative art program but it's capabilities are pretty extensive http://www.processing.org
it's fun to use too because you don't really have to code any setup stuff to get started you just open a new sketch and just start right on the graphics code

Re: What game are you playing?
just see an advert for dlc for far cry 3 and i think i heard £22.50p. is this not a tad expensive for additional content?
game on its own was about £45 on release as it is.
i have yet to get any dlc but am interested in getting the extra guns dlc for vanquish and thats proper cheap at bout £1.75p oh and i'm after getting the dlc large map pack for killzone3, but i do think some of this additional content could have easily been on some games.
i have a question bout the map packs on killzone3. say i buy the pack and am playing team death match and am in a great squad and the next map is a dlc and some of the other guys on my squad don't have this am i right in thinking they will automaticly leave the squad? if so thats whats stopping me buying the content. don't really wanna have my squad plit up every game coz some peps don't have dlc. or could i buy the dlc and select to play only normal maps sometimes so squad won't get split up?

Does anyone on here not have Binding of Issac? have a spare key of it and the DLC, and it's an awesome game.

MGS 2: Sons of Liberty

Just got it from my girlfriend for Christmas, I'm about an hour in. Not quite hooked yet, but I can see myself sinking some serious time into it...-TraX- wrote:FAR CRY 3

It's a very slow start, I highly recommend hunting so you can craft packs for more ammo n such.Maccaveli wrote:Just got it from my girlfriend for Christmas, I'm about an hour in. Not quite hooked yet, but I can see myself sinking some serious time into it...-TraX- wrote:FAR CRY 3

Did i hear right though that it has DLC already? That put me off alot when it came to Hitman Absolution and BL2 both which I bought at release and at release or a week out had close to the price of the game's worth of DLC

Re: What game are you playing?
not to my knowledge. DLC shouldnt let your view of the main game be distorted, however irritating it is to see those corporate dogs pawing for that extra fiver. im playing hitman, bl2 and fc3 without DLC and am enjoying them all. aside from bl2's 'true vault hunter mode' which is just fuckery on toastdeadly habit wrote:Did i hear right though that it has DLC already? Re: What game are you playing?
BL2 I understand the DLC since BL1 had loads of the best DLC, HM:A pissed me off, BL2 Ive barely touched in spite of knowing it's an awesome game because I bought Dark Souls the same day and well Dark Souls has taken a tonnn of my game time.
I have yet to get FC3 but from what I've seen it looks amazing, jus t steam sales, amazon etc my backlog got even larger... So I'm gonna wait for a sale on it.

Re: What game are you playing?
It's $15 on amazon, with the PC mods it kills the console versions. As to if you'd enjoy it, well it's a throwback to hard as hell games with little to know handholding that expects you to learn from your mistakes, like OG NES games like megaman. It's lore and story is told through item descriptions, and it's non linear.jayladders wrote:as a fan of most RPGs, would i enjoy dark souls? wise move on the sale waitdeadly habit wrote:BL2 I understand the DLC since BL1 had loads of the best DLC, HM:A pissed me off, BL2 Ive barely touched in spite of knowing it's an awesome game because I bought Dark Souls the same day and well Dark Souls has taken a tonnn of my game time.

This is from my 3rd time playing the game probably the hardest I could play it as on a new game (SL1 which means no leveling which isn't needed on the game, and about the 20th time on this same boss to beat him)
If you're looking for an easy game or something like Skyrim, don't go for it, but it is def one of my top games of all time atm.
Oh you best have an XBox 360 pad or use the mouse and keyboard fix if you plan to play it on PC

It's also worth going through blind first playthrough in spite of how frustrated you may get
It can be speedrun in around an hour, but a blind playthrough gen takes 40-50 hours minus DLC addon

Re: What game are you playing?
Been playing Far Cry 3 too. I'm at the beginning but already taking a break from the story to clear the north of the map. I'm trying to get 10 microchips so I can eventually get that Shredder, looks badass... One question though: is it just me or is getting money EXTREMELY difficult in this game ? I always feel that either I don't have enough cash or everything is really expensive in stores

I finished it in normal, played some co-op which i thought was buggy as hell, so stuck it on ebay and got £25 for it a couple of days before they reduced the price to £22
didn't rate it to be honest
