Yeah like I give 2 shits about the opinion of an electro house producer..the twat is residing on the low end of house, its only natural his tone deaf ass find himself jerking off to the low end of dubstep.

i find the hate for skrillex among the dubstep community to be pretty juvenile. i dont particularly like his music, but each and every producer deserves respect for the music they put out. this guys no sellout, he makes music he enjoys making and has never claimed to be a dubstep artist. sadly, the media has tagged him as such, which results with millions of misguided tweens. however, music is music and for what it is worth i think skrillex to be a great producer. this board seems to advocate the 'do your own thing' message. is that not what he is doing? just my two cents! :6:

What exactly is juvenile about it? Most of the hate is directed towards his production and mixing, fair game on a board full of djs and producers.
Immerse wrote:each and every producer deserves respect for the music they put out.
No, not really. In this shitty ass digital age of oversaturation, quality control is out the door. You want me to start fapping to some 14 year old who dl'd a pirated version of FL, came up with something in 4 hours, then decided to post it on soundcloud and youtube? Right.
Immerse wrote:sadly, the media has tagged him as such, which results with millions of misguided tweens.
no, the misguided tweens followed him from his screamo days...they just left one shitty scene for another (but at least the anger and stupid haircuts are still there).

meh, i guess im just more tolerant than some people. :corntard: ive just never understood ragging on any kind of music. dont like it, move on. i dont feel like any musician/producer has a checklist of people they should have to satisfy. to each their own!

^ think youve missed the point completely

most of the forum dont like brostep/skrillex because its so far detached from the orignal sound & meaning of the genre

oh and skrillexs ability to produce is average at best, and his mixdowns are shit... there is no denying that

i understand that its nothing like dubstep, but i feel that was kind of pinned on him not by himself so i dont think he deserves shit for it. regarding mixdowns im not gonna lie im absolutely clueless. cheers

Actually I saw an interview with him a little while back and the interviewer asked him "if you had to describe your music as one genre, which would it be?"
And he thought for a moment.
And then he looked at the interviewer.
And then he looked at the camera.
And then he took a puff of his cigarette.
And then he adjusted his large glasses.
And then he looked at the interviewer again.

And then he stated, in a simple, monotonal voice,
"Dubstep."

I generally agree, but it's not just a case of disliking his music here, its a case of the ignorance his music spreads and the effects it has on us and the music we love.

Yes, Skrillex is a good producer.

But most of his songs aren't good.

Hell, i managed to recreate "Smack My Bitch Up" on Ableton Live and yet most of my productions are below average.

Just because you can play the guitar doesn't mean you can make a good song.
