Im kind of at the point where I feel like i cant get the sounds out of operator that I can with massive, but I can much more easily control automations and modulations on operator... catch 22
i know its kind of vague, but I just feel like there is more power in operator im not utilizing... anyone have tracks up with some sick basslines they have made in operator? Id like to hear and talk about them!
i do probably 80% of all my synth work in operator, not really sure what to tell you apart from spend more time getting to know it. read the section in the manual about operator, that might give you some good places to start exploring more.

i spent a lot of time the last few days getting more into it, and found setting an instrument rack with multiple operators splitting with multiband dynamics and processing each individually at different freqs really helped allow me get nique sounds that retain their fullness.
New Ableton Question
I recently I bought a big bank of bass one-shots (bc it came with an FX pack)
they sound great but How can I use them effectively to make continuous wobbles?
I tried using simpler/sampler, but the looping isnt smooth whether its forward or reverse. Seems like no matter where I crop/loop the sample it sounds completely different...
Any ideas on how to use these types of samples most effectively?

Have simpler/sampler start at the beginning of the hit, then loop over a small section in the middle of the sample, it can even be just a few waves. If your loops aren't sounding right make sure they start and end where the waveform is at exactly zero.

I tried using bass one shots once, i found turning on the warp function and putting them together in arrangement view was a lot easier than trying to load them into samplers in session view.

How did you re-pitch them in arrangement view?

You can click the waveform and transpose it in the bottom window

yeah having a few stacked up in an instrument rack can be really useful.

not sure if any other daws do this but, ableton should display the audio within the midi notes... it would make things so much easier especialy for drums.

I'm not exactly sure what your saying here, but im assuming you are asking for the audio waveforms to be displayed instead of midi notes??? Why don't you just bounce it to an audio track and compare the two?

Write your midi in, freeze the channel and select and automation lane to expand with the + sign. There you have it - audio view of the midi track.

Anyone know why the channel meters read different values than the spectrum analyzer? Specifically, the meter says my sub is under my drums, but the spectrum is tellin' a different story.

Well, I suppose it's because the spectrum shows where every element is sittin' as opposed to where the channel peaks. So which one do y'all follow when y'all mix down?

I follow my ears, not my eyes.

As do many. My question is more about which instrument is more helpful as a reference.

so im getting a little better, proabably my second hour into ableton now, im using drum racks for my drums ATM and have a few questions.
can each "pad" on the drum rack have its own effects on just that one sound? when in session view and you click the arrow to expand it to the right to show all the hits and volume faders, can you drag effects into those, i would try it but im not home right now.
and also in drum racks and you click the button to bring up the properties of the sound where it brings up the wave form and you can adjust the attack/release etc of the sample, is there a way to reverse the sample?? i couldnt find an option to do that, so i ended up just swaping the sample for a reversed version of it i already had in my library.
(1st thing im liking in ableton over FL is the "consolodate 'ctrl+J' " feature, makes editing drums and drums fills in arrangement view a breeze!)

if you think about it, the sub only has one fundamental, while something like the snare has tons of frequencies across the spectrum. like mks said, just use your ears. i usually check my spectrum at the end and make sure my sub is a couple db higher then everything else hitting, can never have too much bass, but i find alot of people starting out often have too little (my older tracks did)
going back a bit in the tread, if youre having trouble bending pitch in massive, check the osc tab (?) and make sure the bend range is adjusted right, i think the default is 2 semis or something... as mentioned, using the macros is much easier.
