They were very broadly and not very often checking people. This basically involved patting them down for about 5 seconds, checking more for a shank or a can of beer, for example.

they do let you do this. last time we snuck out for a bun (before realizing it was totally unnecessary to take such activities outdoors) the bouncers pointed us down the street and had no qualms with us coming back 10 mins later.
