Everybody knows that if you lined up a group of deejays, any other niche group of people would look like decent humans in comparison.

The only thing that is wrong with metal dudes is that there isn't enough women in their world so it becomes a bit larp or whatever imo.
lol not sure about that either, more girls that at an underground dance music gigs usually.

You lot chat some proper egg, metal heads are just people with different taste in music, trying to pin personality traits onto an entire group of people that large is stupid as everyone is different, I'm in a thrash metal band and I've been privileged to meet some awesome people as a result of that, kinda insulting when people say that everyone who listen to metal is a dick, I'd rather not have myself and a great many of my friends written off like that over something trivial

I totally understand if people don't like metal, just don't shit on people who do, it's childish

also I know way more metal girls than girls who like dubstep or any other underground dance music

No that is as misunderstood tbh jim

the fact is that apart from the specific music being less about notes and more about energy and attitude than a lot of other genres which speficially appeal to males, there's an appeal within metal scenes that appeal to males because of all the fantasy bits

nothing wrong with that, but it's not just any other genre it is a bit larpy, but that is what is pretty cool about it aswell, that there's room for different aspects..

so with that in mind it is fair to assume something from that group of people more so than other groups

but that is not critique either

Idk I never really paid much attention to that whole fantasy inspired part of the scene, I just like loud, aggressive music

Depends what metal. A lot of the imagey kind of something-core bands or more mainstream metal people are cock sockets but overall I'd say when you get down to the people who take it more seriously than just wanting to get drunk and listen to whatever kerrang likes it's a scene full of far less annoying people than dubstep is. Not only are brostep fans worse but the "truheads" who worship mala and talk about how deep their music is too.

Also it's less sausagefesty than a lot of dubstep nights I've been to in the past. And people having a pop at metal bands' appearances again you're being so picky with examples. You can do it the other way around too

I mean I could pick this photo as an example of a metal band and say they're normal dudes
Image

and then pick some photo taken at an early dubstep night of some pasty motherfucker in a nike cap and accuse dubstep of being for drugged up chavs.

yeah well of course there are people with varying tastes who happen to like metal also

but i for one was talking about true metalheads who discard any other type of music
i'm confident that same sort of cringey dickwads can be found in any given "scene" (although i'm willing to bet it's less common)
it's just that metalheads are usually so dedicated that they're loud and obnoxious enough that it's not difficult to spot them

Yeah and to be fair their vocalist is a bit of a knob on stage. They were just the first really normal looking metal band I though of.

I go to shitloads of metal shows and really don't see what you guys are on about at all most of the time. Maybe it's because I am not going to see someone like Trivium or whatever (are they still even about?)

What you're describing sounds like how people acted in school I don't see it in adults. Are you sure you guys aren't going on memory from years back? That or you're bringing it out by going round treating them as weird looking unfriendly people who like a music you're not into so they are having to defend themselves and you're using that as your proof

Also are you using having a sense of dress that relates so strongly to the music as being them being obnoxious about showing off what music they're into? Cause I could argue all of you in five panels, Nike airmaxes and swamp 81 t shirts are so uniformally going "I LIKE ELECTRONIC MUSIC" too.

It's a thing being a metal guy and has been for years in different variants, where as it's not a thing wearing a shirt eventhough a few might take the same drugs and have the very same hat. :dunce:

You're right about the uniform part, although you can't deny that metal - or punk, goth, trad rock w/e scenes have fans more willing to identify with it, which is less common in electronic music scenes. Sure you get some white dreadlock nerd with a junglist shirt but that's about it.
