Hello everyone... :w:

Olza here, I've been on the forums for a few months. This is my first year producing and the forum has exponentially skyrocketed my knowledge for creating dubstep and gave me a newborn passion for all electronic dance music.

I'm from Alberta, Canada. Live in a town with 10,000 farmers. No love for dubstep out here, I'm the only one keeping it real I guess. Going to a production academy in the next couple months. I'm 17 years old (18 tomorrow :D)

Once I hit 18 years of age I can legally go to all the shows I want. From there I think my future and life will a lot more inspiring. Hoping to leave this shit town and collab with some like-minded people.

Random fact: I enjoy hitting my roor

:t: .
This. I basically hate anything with that "brutal electro" sound; it sounds all like HUGLAGHALGHALGHAL

Hello all,

I'm new to the dubstep forum (and forums in general, I tend to be a lurker). I've been reading here for a while and decided it was high time I registered.

I'm a recording and live sound engineer based out of Asheville NC, USA. I'm kinda showing up late to the dubstep party. I discovered dubstep at Bass Camp, Black Rock City, and I haven't thought about synths the same way since. The complex waveforms and modulations captured my mind, and I've been trying to incorporate the sounds and techniques of dubstep into my own music.

My background is this: I started making computer music at 15 years old in my bedroom with Cool Edit and ReBirth. Then by 17 I had graduated to Fruity Loops and Cool Edit Pro. I went to college to study audio technology, and switched to Protools and Logic. I worked in Nashville recording radio commercials and country music (ugh). After a trip around the USA, I ended up in Asheville doing live sound and working at a recording studio on the side.

Having access to a recording studio has given me the opportunity to collect some great samples and do some very interesting effects/re-amping processing. That's where my interest in Dubstep comes in. I'm interested in exploring the depths of sound you can achieve by processing multiple samples together, resampling, reamping, multiband processing, and the like.

I plan on processing the samples that I've collected into Ableton instruments and loops, and making those available to the public (under creative commons license) I have about 30gb of data that I need to process, before i can put it out. I'll post here when i'm done.

I appreciate all the help this forum has been to me so far and i look forward to contributing and helping further the cause of Dubstep.

AF

Uh Hello. It has been a long time since I joined a new forum and my usual forum is somewhat abrasive-so bear with me.

I am somewhat new to dubstep-I do not know the lingo or many of the artists and history. I have an extensive background in industrial music. I have been producing industrial since 1995 and I have gotten to the point where I do not find it challenging anymore. I like to experiment with heavy rhythms, bass, and noise. So dubstep seemed like a logical move. I guess I was first introduced to this music through Mick Harris and Scorn. I have been listening to him since "Evanescence". Scorn fits in well with some of my favourite experimental bands like COIL, Nurse With Wound, NON, and Illusion Of Safety. Then just over a year ago I heard Milanese for the first time. I was immediately hooked on that filth. That is the kind of dubstep I like- I am not sure if it is some sub-genre or something. But I like it filthy, raw, and noisy. Since then I have found some more favourites. I like stuff like 16 Bit, Skream, Exillion, Broken Note, Displacer, Marching Dynamics and NOISIA. I want to find more artists like this and I want to hone my own sound in those themes.

Music-wise I have a 50/50 set up. I used hardware and software equally.
My DAW is Cubase SX.
My soundcloud account is http://soundcloud.com/soillodge
My studio is named "soillodge", but my main music project is R010R http://soillodge.bandcamp.com/

Good to meet you all!

Im not so new but I felt like I have to introduce myself anyway, my name is Samuel, im 16 years old, from Sweden and started with producing dubstep some months ago.
I have been working with music production for about 4 years, my friend Bratkilla introduced me to dubstep
Seems like a sweet forum with many great producers!

First up, props to all the producers on here! From what I've heard so far, there are a lot of talented people on this forum, with a lot of creative ideas. I've been playing drums, percussion, and studying music for the better part of 10 years. I'm impressed.

Anyway, I've been listening to dubstep for about a year now. When I saw bassnectar drop Emalkay's "When I Look At You", I have been hooked ever since. As a producer, I've been messing around for about 3 years and have made a few dubstep tracks, as well as dnb, electro and some house stuff. I look forward to putting these tracks out for the community to enjoy and critique. Hopefully I can provide some helpful feedback as well. Peace out.

What's up.

I am brand new to the forum, but have been producing off and on for the last 10 years, mostly breaks and hip hop up until recently. I've been listening to dubstep for about a year now and I am currently knee-deep in my first dubstep track. I'm using Logic with an array of samples and nasty VIs, but I've pretty much used every audio app out there at one time or another.

Looking forward to sharing tracks and advice with the community.

Hey,

New to the forum and dubstep as well I suppose. Went through a slow process of "Don't care -> Curious -> Mild Interest in Heavy Wobble based stuff -> Totally Obsessed". Saw Benga & Skream last summer here in Montreal which was the first time I caught Dubstep on a big system and I was sold. Made it part of my regular rotation along with mostly Techno/Minimal and Fidget influenced stuff. This summer I caught Scuba and in anticipation for the show started doing a lot of digging into his sound and similar artists and since the show I've been obsessed. It was really refreshing finding more... "mature", if you will, sounds in dubstep and it's all I've been listening to since. I've worked my way through Hotflush, Planet Mu and Hyperdub artists and started branching out from there, hoping that this forum will help me find other stuff along similar veins.

I'm new - help me!!!

Post by K_True » Mon Oct 18, 2010 6:01 pm

:t: HI ALL!!!

I'm on here representing a label, Truesounds, hoping to bring you some top quality beats and mixes from some of our produces very soon.
I've just joined the forum and was wanting to post a soundcloud widget. Whenever I preview the post it tells me the widget I've added is not available at the moment and displays the embed code below where the widget is supposed to be.

Soundcloud

Can someone please tell me if that's the way all widgets look when previewed, or if I've embedded it wrong? I've got really bad OCD and don't wanna post anything that looks messy....

Thanks in advance!!!!

Heyoooo!

I'm a drummer from southern connecticut; i've got a youtube account which you can find at http://www.youtube.com/user/blooandwhite and music which i host at http://www.soundcloud.com/ironblue :)

I've been playing drums for about 9 years, I didn't get into the whole dubstep thing until about last year when i was introduced to reso after sorting through various electronic phases. Still lookin to get a better hold on music production and hopefully will have a live show someday consisting of a live mix + auxiliary drummings!!
