Hello!

I've just finished a tune that i'm really happy with. I have no one to show it to right now so i thought i'd post it here ( I'm usually just a lurker ). It is the latest tune uploaded on my soundcloud called Ricochet

Feedback would be appreciated :)

 http://soundcloud.com/petemines

It's not dubstep but heavily influenced. Since i first heard instra:mental there's been no going back!

Ah shit, feel a bit rude coming on here and posting my track without giving feedback for the people posting before me today.

Thanks for your comments tripwire. Im still not sure about taking it out of halftime at all.. At the time it sounded wicked but on listen backs, it seems a bit out of place.

Putrid - SLY - Really nice swinging beats and very heavy distorted wobbles. maybe could do with some percussion working on the double time. Thats just my opinion. The tune progresses very nicely and doesn't get boring. Could easily go on alot longer. Would be cool if you automated cut off ,res etc on the bassline to keep things moving. Maybe more attention to cleaning up some of those samples and a little compression on the high end to make everything crystal clear.

SCP - Enigma - Awesome track. Loving the bass + samples. Everything is really nicely mixed down and has a wicked groove. Can tell alot of time went into just sequencing the beats. Im not to keen on the reverb on the hats. Reverb can be a twat to get right though

Tripwire - Euro - Really euphoric dreamy tune mate. Reminds me of an 80's sci fi theme - maybe John Carpenter. I'd like to hear this tune out of myspace. The bass sounds like its distorting but it could just be the crappy myspace player... Even better on its second listen. big tune

Fuck, this post turned out to be longer than expected!

@PMM-Thank god somebody here gives a shit. I swear this forum is going to hell because you jackasses have wretched manners and are ruled by selfishness and your puny, small penis driven egos. IF YOU POST A TRACK FOR FEEDBACK, THEN REVIEW AT LEAST THREE(3)OTHER PEOPLE'S TUNES FIRST, OR IMMEDIATELY FOLLOWING YOUR POST. OTHERWISE FUCK OFF AND GO POST YOUR NEWB CRAP IN THE DUBS SECTION!!!!! Where you are guaranteed to either get absolutely no respect or to get put in your place properly.

That being said, I came in to peep a few tunes, so this is what I listened to:

@Imaginary Forces-I don't care too much for what you've got so far with Resonance. It's an okay tune, good sounds, nice, tasty synths, mellow deep vibe, good subs, nice smooth transitions, great hi-hats, well mixed, great production quality.....it just doesn't really seem to go anywhere man. Imo it needs to change up more after the drop and could use at least two drops, maybe some significant time changes or really letting loose on that hand percussion, it just sounds like one really big loop. However, what you have so far is good, just not enough to be a 6:39 min tune.

@Leviticus-I do not like midrange music at all, so I can't tell you your music is good. However, your production quality and mixdown are okay. Only bit of crit I can offer you is that with some better eq'd hi-hats with a more driving pattern and a more prominent place in the mix, you'll get more action on the dancefloor.

@Tripwire-You haven't got a soundcloud yet?!! C'mon, I remember your first post on this thread, it's been long enough, go to soundcloud and start a page! It's a whole other community, one with way more feedback and support. Big up on developing good etiquette and supporting the community though bruv, that is what this forum is supposed to be about!
Now then about Euro, I can tell your sound is really developing man, the synths are nice, the snare sounds good, your sub sounds just a bit clipped, not sure if that's intentional or not. Your mix just sounds a bit crowded, you may benefit from clearing a bit more space for those hi-hats and varying the pattern of your drums a bit. Avoid extended repetition whenever possible, a key change drop with those arps would be nice and right on time imo. Nice drop at 3:14, love this, just need another drop before here, maybe around 64 bars(2:10 or so)would be nice. Good tune though, I can tell you've really been working, big up. I like the Substance tune too.

@PMM-Listened to Ricochet and I like the idea, I appreciate the creativity and originality, imo this tune is badly lacking in some very vital percussion. Which is an easy thing to go back and change. A good snare, clap or rimshot is essential for the overall movement of a dubstep tune, can really be any sound, just needs to be there, and the drum sounds that really come after 2:14 don't do it for me personally. Also, some good dancing hi-hat action would greatly benefit this tune as well, and lastly, but most importantly, subs man, some nice deep fat heavy sine waves to go along with the drums to really move this tune. Just my opinion, I think you could have an amazing tune here man, just needs a bit more work and a bit better mix done when you're done. I like all of your ideas in your tunes on the soundcloud, great style man, great sounds, very original and creative, very dark and heavy. Love Clouds and Bampton Stint. You may benefit greatly from a copy of Izotope Ozone. It's great for mastering reverb and boosting your subs. Probably some of the best tunes I've heard from this forum in a while. Big up.

Petamines - bampton stint. really like the organic and expressive sounds, the way the introduction goes into the first beat is very natural, sounds like it evolves. into it. Falls into the beat. sounds quite squarepusher influenced. Kinda like the fact there's no sub bass as it compares well to other tracks (smashed crab) and i could imagine it being easy to mix.

Skallion - Wasnt sure about the intro, think the pads could evolve a bit more, maybe some more unique tones with the bass. Liked it at 1.54 when it drops in with the deeper bass although i think its a bit loud in the mix nice variation.
Like the thick kick drum tones you have going.

Putrid - Like the way you drop out the basline to allow the other synth to fit in, mixdown needs to be slightly louder nice 200hz chest bam snare, i think the violin samples could do with a bit of work though.
