It's not about them being intricate, it's about them having musical value, them having some amount of thought invested in them, them having something justifying their existence.

again, what more justification do they need then the fact that they're a product of somebody's love and dedication? to assume that there's no thought invested in them is so ignorant.

It's about expectations. If you buy a record looking to hear some heavy bass music, and instead you get 59 minutes of classical guitar, you're more than welcome to hate on the labeling of the music.

Truth be told, I do not like brostep. I really don't. It is extremely annoying. But it has nothing to do with me, or it shouldn't, but that shit is in my face, and in my ears and in my mind because of it's forced proximity to music that I really do love. Brostep isn't bass music, it is midrange music.

it's midrange music? you must be a detective, huh? did you figure that out all by yourself? everybody has to sit through some tunes they don't like every once in a while at a show, and you don't see normal people shitting tears over it. they just cringe and keep going. i'm sure you know what DJs you like, what DJs you don't like, who will play the midrange and who will avoid it like the plague, right? just go to the nights that you know will be good and don't bother with the rest. it's that simple.

and maybe one day, you'll meet me at a show and not even know it, and we'll smoke a blunt outside and have a good time listening to some deep tunes, and we'll both think, "wow, so glad to have met a fellow music fan around here!" you'd prolly tell me your opinions about midrange, i'd laugh and say, "oh, i kind of like that stuff" and you'd say something about how you hated it and it sucked, and we'd both laugh, cuz opinions like that don't really mean shit in the big picture, do they?

Sorry bro but that is just more generalization. I think a lot of "Brostep" has a lot more going on than the old 1 and 3. At the same time some of it is that way and yet manage to pull it off nicely. There is a lot of garbage midrange out there just as any other style of music but the generalization is kinda shite imo.

this is true there is a lot of really good drums in a lot of really good Dubstep the problem is that there are a lot of new DJ's that can not grasp mixing two of those tunes together so they play tunes of kick 1 snare 3 hyper quantized 1/16 note hats cause it works so good for that mixing style that is so popular now days where its intro against breakdown as to avoid having to beat match
i would say talk to the people you know in your scene and tell them to stop booking DJ's that only play because they are producers and on that note producers step up your fucking DJ's game if you are gonna try and be DJ's
