@Offkey lickedbeats I liked the start of this, tbh i thought it was going to develop into something a bit stronger but its good anyway, i think you need to expand your wobbles and really eq them to bring them to the front of the track, after all they are the heart of a good dubstep tune

Really like the bongo/percussion line on this, however the rest of the drums are far too quiet and sparse for my liking. Try adding more hats/kicks and compression/reverb to keep the pace up! Also really liked the flutey pad thing in the breakdown, keep at it!

not dubstep but i could really do with some feedback  first attempt at sampling/trip hop style ting. soundcloud in the sig.

thank you for the feedback; on the final version ive brought the drums forward and really eq'd them to give them a lot more punch, they still are as sparse as having more complex drums draws your attetion to the drums and not the percussion and rhythm and thats what i wanted to focus on, but i know exactly what you mean most of my other tunes focus on fast, hard-hitting drums.

@craggle this does remind me of a horror film; one from the early 80s as that main synth sounds very polyphonic try fattening that up and giving it a bit more punch so it really sounds as if it cuts through you. The wobble however is very basic and pretty boring tbh, nothing i havent heard 1million times over, i usually spend days working on my sounds until i get them perfect and unique

for those who missed my new tune first time round here it is:

Soundcloud

i draw inspiration from the likes of diesel, culprate and other hard-hitters as some of you may notice

big up!

What do you think? How's the mixing (that's where I struggle the most, I think)? Any suggestions?

hey man , i thought the first was pretty buzzi it a some places but not in a bad way , i thought ur bass and some of ur hats could of been a bit more prominent , a bit louder , i thought that might of boosted the track

2nd one didnt really like the start but once it got into it , was pretty grime :D again tho wish the bass was a bit more louder , maybe try some slight panning ? not sure

well here my one im working on , Soundcloud
hey, everything you said was actually pretty helpful. I'm going to implement your suggestions for the first song. As for your song, I thought it was pretty dope. As a sober person, I got kinda bored w/ the intro, but I can see myself enjoying that in a more spaced out mentality. If I had to make a suggestion, perhaps the only suggestion I have is adding a sound or two more to it... like some good female vocals every once in a while, IDK. Otherwise, I think it's pretty cool so far. Sounds like it's mixed pretty well.

@mrsuperstero the first tune is pretty decent but ye the bass etc does need beefing up

you second tune was real good when it got going, but the vocal came in a couple bars early, it was a bit confusing when the verses came in before the drop,

all in all good work mate!!

yeah my eq'in leaves alot to be desired but im producing on headphones with no monitors so cant really give them a proper listen, yeah im thinking about maybe having the 2nd drop come in alot harder as it does feel though its building up to something but never gets there.

btw loving the percusion in your track rolls along nicely, maybe could do with a bit more mid range but again im only listening on headphones so could be wrong. nice track tho

@kochari yea quite liking this man, the guitar or whatever that is sounds nice, good melody too. good use of sounds overall really! not too keen on that snare though, sounds a bit standard, not not feeling to it if that makes sense, maybe layer it or a bity of reverb? rest of the percussion is real nice though!

Heres my new one, pretty pleased with this one so far, kinda laid back vibe, chopped vocals, it needs a mix down but i worked hard getting a good rhythm to it with the percussion and atomosphere..lemme know what you think!
Soundcloud

Also i know someone mentioned it before but people really need to give feedback on others first rather than just post their track if they are expecting feedback on theirs! :w:

@Kontigo, love it. Not normally into that style but haven't heard an easier listening track in i don't even know how long. Only thing i'd say is about the drums, like you say it needs a mixdown but if you get those snares breaking through a lil more and the kick slightly more prominent it'll be banging. Beautiful!

This started off as my attempt at a deeper dubstep track, hence the lighter drums. I ended up slapping a mean bass on there, but it plods along fucking slowly, very different but thought i'd keep at it. About 3 hours work, and ive been on headphones the whole time so any help over mixdown would be grand.

Gonna be up for free download when done, i know i should really add something else to go along with the intro drums but to be honest i can't be bothered as it's going to be free download for everyone anyway

@hakka - Yeah nice atmosphere in this one man, get some more power in the sub I reckon (unless it's so low I can't hear it atm :P).

@kontigo - Intro sounds lovely, really soulful vox. Nice rhythm you've got with the drums but they could definitely hit harder. Great work though, this will be lush.

@marshy - Definitely sounds like it's missing something, get some pads or atmosphere in there to fill some space.

New tune below (although it's a bit housey atm haha) or the one in the sig on some spacious quarter-step vibes :D

Hello all :t: I am new to these forums just trying to get advice on how to get my tunes to sound a bit more professional. I've been lurking around and reading all the important threads and it seems like many people on these forums really know what they're talking about. Hope to get some feedback on this one. cheers.
