On a bit of a separate note, I really hope Loefah hasn't thrown away any ideas of putting an LP out on DMZ like the other two.

Not so much because I'd want to play the tunes out (not that I'd be against more DJs playing Loefah tunes out). He's just got quite a few tunes I'd love to just whack on the deck and listen through. Little slices from the past that'd be so rewarding having.

I'd say about 90% of decent tunes get released, the other 10% don't.
Would you like all of that 10% to be released? I for one quite like the idea that this 10% isn't being rinsed by every other dj big or small.
Yes it is an amazing track but the truth is is that if this was released then it would be quickly forgotten about because the big influential dj's in the scene aren't really playing this type of music any more apart from Yunx.
I also agree that it is a genre defining tune, but then again so are quite a few tracks which has been released.

Also to the guy saying that he doesn't understand why anyone would make a track an not want to release it. Your looking at it from your perspective. There are many reasons why releasing a track isn't on the top of the list of 'Things to do'.

Personally yes.

Eventually, anyhow.

I personally think that when a tune has done it's rounds in the dance and DJs generally don't play it anymore, then if there are people out there who appreciate it, then why not give them access to it?

I understand the DMZ attitude of keeping a dub for years. I don't like it ('cause I love the tunes and want to hear them fully in high quality), but I understand it. I don't understand why they'd just let them gather dust once they've had their use. Personally I don't think it makes them more/less special to keep them/release them.

if the tune is special, releasing it has no effect on it's special-ness.

A track being played rarely that hardly anyone has makes it special right?
So when the track is suddenly owned by every dj and is being used in small time bedroom dj mixes, it loses that 'Specialness' it's just the way it is, you can't deny it. Their is so much evidence in everything not just music that proves this.
Btw I'm not saying in the slightest that it will somehow degrade the actual music itself.

A moment ago though, someone arguing almost the same point as you (to the same end, anyhow) was saying that it shouldn't be released because no one will use it.
Case and point - Just A Beat. Big tune, but since it was given away nothing much has happened with it.

And similarly do you think that now that Eyez has been released and more people can play it that it's somehow a less special tune?

I don't reckon it's lost anything by being released.

I do think it has become less special, however I really really wanted that released and I think it was released at the right time and is still in my eyez one of the best tracks to have come out of the scene.
Like I said it doesn't reduce the quality of the music.
It's not hard to understand what makes things in life special, precious etc.

Fair enough. So you understand how wanting a tune overules this idea of making it less special? I do understand the point you're making. But surely you can understand then it's just a difference of a opinion. I reckon about now is the 'right' time to release Midnight. Loefah's changed direction. So it's time to release the old dubs. If you think different well, it doesn't really matter, because it's all down to what Loefah thinks.

This tune is confirmed lost. The World Wildlife Foundation confirmed the last known Midnight died in its sleep in Croydon Petting Zoo yesterday :(

No chance of it ever coming out now people I am afraid.

But what about the breeding program they had been trying? :(

It seems like quite a few big names have Midnight now, so chances of hearing it out are increasing...maybe not though.

i'm imaging guys in labcoats hitting dubplates together hoping desperately that they will mate
