When he says that the people who 'hate' him don't know him, he dodges the fact that they hate Skrillex the musician, not 'Skrillex' the person. And if he can't differentiate, he's just dumb. But he can. Which means he doesn't want to address negativity which is fine. It's funny that he doesn't know why so many people don't like his music, though, even if more people apparently do enjoy it.

But the video just reinforces his douche bag persona. He was in an 'emo' band, ostensibly he's 'alternative' and 'punk rock', but he was part of a scene that commercialized punk rock to its knees. While he was posturing like a rock star, there were much better acts without any attention actually making ground breaking 'punk/emo' music and not complaining one bit. And they didn't do rock star moves. Sonny Moore is only concerned with being an act and selling an image. That's why I don't like him. The same kids who called me gay because of my jeans when I was in middle or high school, or who thought they were 'badass' because they liked the Ramones but only knew "Blitzkrieg Bop" or Black Flag but only knew who Henry Rollins was because of VH1, those kids are the ones who were into From First to Last. They didn't know Refused, Rites of Spring, or Saetia. And I'm not trying to be an elitist dick, but he was part of the commercialization of punk i the early 2000s and he did it by being a douche bag rock star and being antithetical to the whole scene. I liked punk partially because I was a lame, sad kid without a lot of friends who didn't fit in and this music spoke me. Skrillex/S.moore/FFTL is the opposite of that. So that's why I don't like him.

And his music is pretty wack, too.

i could imagine this being cut from a mix by him and actually being another producer, but if it's him well that's some nice shit. nothing wrong with stupid wobbly music as long as it's 170+ bpm

i really dislike his ep's so far, as it's mostly disjointed random noises thrown together but these two tracks are actually consistent and focused.

I fail to believe so many guys on this board give 2 shits what he looks like. I don't like a single tune he's made, not into the sound or scene that he thrives in. But more power to him for doing what he loves, getting bitches and making p from it. Far far too many screw face batties in here.

this man can produce with insane quality, and that has to be respected. i even enjoy a fair amount of his house tunes

however, what kills me is the fact that so many americans over in cali when asked "what is dubstep?" they'll respond with skrillex

and if they hate on this so called 'dubstep', the reasons are usually what you see on here - it just sounds like fucking noise. i find it such a shame and so many heads are turned off a genre simply because they don't know what dubstep actually is
