I'm rereading A Clash of Kings right now. After reading through all the books... god damn. If you thought the first 'season' was crazy just wait. People often refer to George R.R. Martin as being the American Tolkein and I only have one problem with that: I enjoyed A Song of Ice and Fire more than Lord of the Rings. Tolkein = the British GRRM???

Yeah, not a fan of Lord of the Rings. Too much good vs. evil, and sappy bollocks shite.

In ASoIF there's no clear distinction, shades of grey, with everyone basically looking to fuck each other over at the first opportunity. I love it.

book 4 has some really good stuff in it, it just focuses on characters that are kind of considered side characters, and sticks with kings landing and westeros, minus the wall. i dont want to say specifics in fear of spoiling anything, not even names because it tells other people who have not read the books that these characters still live up to that point. but there is one particular person who is in book 4 that i hate, and hate reading about. you should know already i think.. also i couldnt really care about dorne, i just want to drink their wine

Yeah, i just looked em up- Brienne looks great! (as in terrible) but margaery looks a bit like a fish .

I think theyre doing the whole asha/yara thing cos osha will have a more important part than in the books- as apparently they havent cast for jojen and meera..

the king had two brothers- the guys round the table were stannis'- the middle brother.

It was renly who we saw in series 1 and he'll appear again soon

I dont remember anyone called dany but the only fit one i can think of is the blonde girl who married Conan the barbarian so i guess thats her.

actually i expected it to be shit... i was quite pleasantly surprised
now i read the first four books since then and i'm afraid the second season is going to disappoint me...
