Basic A wrote:afterempier ; what is so derogatory about the word brostep? I know loads of promoters and producers who embrace it whole-heartedly.

Nothing derogatory about it at all imo, but the general use of the word around here seems laced with contempt as i am sure you well know.

Dont know y, just my point is "why hate?"

Lets do something!!!

Dude it was a Joke lol the serious part is the part about a new DSF. Like one exclusively fo producers...maybe not even focuses on dubstep. And I nominate myself to be a mod if it happens because it's my idea

If not then we shuld definitely make newcomers contribute to existing threads a certain amount before being able to start threads. This way, they would catch the drift and decide not to make skrillex posts. And, unlike the time-based version of this idea, new users can't just not come on here for a week and instantly have privileges. Still gotta work for it. And the ppl looking for instant gratification would probably give up.

I say we create Brostepforum and kick all the Skrillex heads out to that. Leaving a happy Dubstepforum again. :corndance:

My suggestions for the site would be:

1) Question and answer section, with a respected producer. This is awesome on dogs on acid, and could be great here too.

2) A how to make that sound style thread except we all work together on a different sound each week or month, until we all know how to do it.

3) Minimal negative posting - too many people are too quick to bash on this site. So what if somethings been asked before, either politely refer them or ignore the post and it'll gradually disappear from view. I personally don't like to read through pages of people arguing just to get to the actual information, i'd rather just have the information laid out there in front of me!

4) Enhanced forum abilities, again like on doa where you can attach sounds to your posts.

Just some ideas, i haven't read this whole thread so sorry if some have already been discussed.

I have been a member of this forum for a few years now, not a regular poster, but have a good understanding of how things work round here, so i just wanted to give my 2 pence.

I think a good idea is if once someone click the production forum, then there should be like 3 -5 folders.

1. Music (Talking about harmonies, melodies, chord progressions, Eqing, Compression, Effects etc)
2. Heavy Midrange Bass (Talking about midrange bass, and how to's on massive and all the necessaries for mid range and of course your skrillex, datsik stuff.)
3. DJ questions
4. Money Shot Thread
5. Technical Question (e.g. Computers, Hardware, Software Problems)

Something along these lines would really help to organise these posts cos then mods can come in and move posts that don't belong in these categories. Then everyone has their say and their is no separation into little "pro" forums.

More stickies, possibly sub sections to production forum so its easier for people to find stuff if they havnt been here before or come here rarely. I mean its bad to see more experienced producers leaving but the fact is half of you are just as bad talking shit about "15 year olds with cracked massive". Do you expect a 15 year old to fork out $200 for massive? Where do you expect people to start? Especially people who arent as serious with producing and are taking it up as a little bit of a hobby to try and learn something. But yeah i think best bet is sub sections. Maybe a noobs section and an advanced section and you could even go as far as making sub sub sections into Bass, Drums, VST's, Daws etc...
