It's primarily fear of Desk Belly™ that's driving me

Lord, Desk Belly™ , I should get a photo of this lady I work with.
She literally eating herself to death.
Her belly rests on the table.

I used to work with two somewhat rotund ladies who would regularly complain that despite them doing 3km on a treadmill once a week, they weren't losing any weight.

This conversation usually took place whilst they shared a bag of Haribo.

This thread is guilt tripping me into thinking I should exercise.
I knew I shouldn't have read it.

This women only talks about food and she eats all day.
No discussion of diets, only food.
For her the highlight of the day is getting into a discussion about food with me.
I cook well so we always have something to discuss.
Because she`s obese she talks slower so the conversation draws on for ever.

Just makes it her prerogative to bitch to the canteen on a daily basis about a toasted sandwich with cheese & bacon costing R13.50 but when you add onion it becomes R17.50.
R4 for onions.

and so forth

all day

It's overrated - the bloke who popularised jogging died of a heart attack.

for 20% of the population pretty much any type of exercise is almost 100% ineffective, i.e. they register absolutely no improvement whatsoever, internally or externally from basically every type of exercise known to man

obviously there are a top 20% who respond insanely well

it, unfortunately IS a genetic thing

and who's eating eggs every day out of you lot?? bad bad bad bad bad bad bad...

just replace eggs with spinach or something, should only be eating like 2-3 eggs a WEEK maximum

though i suppose if you're doing lots of cardio and it works for you your body is probably dealing with a lot of it

Sweet Jesus, Wub! What have you been eating? I thought you were a runner more than anything.

6am - protein shake (400ml water, scope of protein powder, handful of blueberries, half a banana, handful of oats)
9am - breakfast (cereal w/ semi skimmed milk, more blueberries) + multivitamin
12pm - sandwich (usually either pastrami/roast beef/prawn on brown w/ salad & jalapenos)
3pm - lunch (pasta salad w/ roasted chicken & shit ton of raw veg)
7pm - pre gym banana & protein shake (carbs/caffeine/etc)
8pm - gym
9pm - protein shake (water, scope of powder)
9:20pm (approx.) - stir fry (250g of turkey or pork, one red onion, one pepper, handful of spinach, 2 tbsp of low salt soy sauce)
Before bed - 2 x ZMA tablets

Gym probably 5 days out of 7, alternating between HIIT cardio, free weight sessions, and at the weekends machine circuit as there is generally less people in the gym. Core variations on all sessions.

wub, we need to talk. this is madness

The yolk is the bad bit in terms of cholesterol - the omlette receipe a few posts back is 3 x egg whites & 1 x whole egg.

Noam I think the thing is, any exercise is only effective when done regularly.

There's an easy (and topical) "This...is...SPARTA!" joke here for the taking, but I'm going to let it slide.

wub's routine is pretty spot on tbh i think

hardly any bad fats or anything, loads of fresh and whole food

good man!

and at Electric: no, thats not the thing, new studies been released proving that for a 1/5th of the population (at least of wherever the study was mapping) that their bodies simply do not respond to exercise, that is REGULAR exercise, the studies obviously had to maintain a degree of consistency for them to even get to peer review status

it makes perfect sense too, if you have people who are simply natural born athletes it follows that there are people born without the prerequisite physiological disposition to exercise

it doesn't mean they have to be overweight and unhealthy btw, it just means EXERCISE doesn't do anything for them

I don't get up specifically to have a protein shake at 6am. I get up at 5:45 to get ready for work, and have one before I leave the house.

interesting
So what do folks that see no value in exercise do??
Do they just resign themselves to being overweight?
I`ve always exercised and been happy doing it if not for weight loss but at least for general well-being.
Are you telling me it`s only based around exercise and losing weight? or does exercising not even help them achieve a happy state of being?

I have a serious case of desk belly.

I joined the gym but never go because it makes my eczema real bad and id rather have a belly than have to put up with scratching all of my skin off
