I would even counter-argue your proposal that Azealia Banks' lyrics are meaningless.

Yeah, her lyrics aren't deep and meaningful, but that's not the point. It's style over substance, but its stylish as fuck. Her flow is nuts, it's fun party music and she raps over beats that no other American MC is touching at the moment.
And yeah, I was referring to Afrika Bambaataa and such. Not a lot of meaning there, but it's classic hip hop.

To be fair, I think it was her mixtape release party or something and the whole thing's mermaid-themed
EDIT: Yeah I just looked it up, that was her costume for the 'Mermaid Ball'
